The story of the Lion and the Gazelle says it all:
African Proverb -
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve to death.
The Moral to the story:
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or gazelle - when the sun comes up in the morning, you had better be running!!!!
Make sure to run faster than you did yesterday because someone else in the biz will be!

They're On Fire!
"Cherries" The Hot Female Group from Rome, Italy. Their Sensual
voices combine the best of R&B, Pop, Soul and a touch of HipHop.
Cherries Bio
According to well respected music industry executives, a new dawn has risen on the global scene. The top of the music charts are no longer reserved for the status quo. Pop culture is forever changing and Top 40 charts are being invaded by a full frontal assault from abroad. The most recent invasion is in the form of the Italian female group, Cherries. Consisting of Gianna Chilla', Terry Matrone and Maria Pareo. Cherries are captivating fans all over the world.
The group Cherries was born in the spring of 2003, by a lucky meeting of Gianna Chillà, Terry Matrone, Sally Moriconi and Laura Bari. In Rome the music scene is a non-stop share and exchange of musicians. Musicians and Artist often jump from a band to band until they find solitude. Everyone knows each other and the ladies were almost bound to meet each other. Gianna Chilla' decided to form a female vocal group and the rumour spread fast.
Since the very beginning Gianna & Terry made a commitment by establishing an original R&B, Pop, Soul, Hip Hop and Dance genre music group. Everyone always pointed at the same 2 names, Gianna Chilla' and Terry Matrone as the focal points in the early days. Gianna creates the musical beats and produces all of the Cherries music, while Terry and now Maria contribute in the writing, vocal arrangements and choreography. Their original sound was truly something new in Italy, and an unprecedented venture. In June 2003 Cherries went on their first tour all over Italy, performing in over 40 concerts over that summer.
From September 2003 to January 2004 Cherries were part of the TV show “Un giorno special”, live everyday on Rai Uno, the main Italian TV channel, as the resident band, singing vocal versions of the most known Italian and International songs, all of them in Cherries very unique way. They sang in occapella to show off their soaring harmonies and distinctive voices. They also incorporated their musician skills creating beautiful melodies. All arrangements were done by Gianna Chillà in 4 part harmonies, with viewers getting something new everyday. Cherries lived together as roommates in an apartment during that period of their career because of constant rehearsals. They had to rehearse everyday after the Rai Uno live broadcast in order to maintain their high quality and fresh material. The ladies became very close as the music group learned to live together as a family. Not only was the group having success, but its individual members have all had outstanding solo achievements. Collectively and on their own, they have become the face of the modern female music movement in Italy. In November 2003 Cherries took part in the “Premio Mia Martini”, a prestigious Italian festival for hot emerging bands, and won the first prize with a unique “Cherries” version of “E poi” of the well known Italian singer Giorgia.
In march 2004 they began a collaboration with Sergio Iapino, a well known Italian TV producer, who gave them the chance to work with some of the best composers and producers in Italy, such as Eric Buffat (the songwriter of Laura Pausini) , Leonardo De Amicis, a well known conductor of the Sanremo festival orchestra, and many more. Even though they were being Sheppard by well known people in the Italian music industry, However, that was the very moment they understood that they needed to write their own songs and give a very personal shape to the Cherries project, and so they began to produce themselves.
In 2005 Laura Bari quit the group and Cherries became a trio. They had to begin re-arranging their songs and writing music in different way. This allowed the ladies to take their writing, producing and choreography talents to a new level. They spent the entire 2006 year making “Senza mai sapere” (“You never Know”), a movie documentary produced by Heristal Entertainment, DNA Cinematografia and Cherries. It is a behind the scenes true story from Cherries beginnings, their early success, troubling times, private lives, live concerts with their live band and much more. Of course the beautiful ladies of Cherries played themselves in the movie, and this was a great experience for them to show off their many talents. The shooting of the movie ended in November 2006 and is still undergoing the editing process. In February 2007 Cherries shot their first music video for the song “If U Wanna”. The video was produced by Hype Communications and Remo Angeloni's Black Studio.
As Cherries began to take themselves to new heights and venture abroad, a shocking development arose when Sally Moriconi left the group. Although it came as a shock to the founding members Gianna Chilla' and Terry Matrone, they forged ahead with auditions of Italian female artist from all over Europe. Many of the artists had been fans of the dynamic group and it wasn't long before Gianna and Terry found their girl, Maria Pareo. Maria returned to Rome from England in order to audition for the group. Her natural beauty, strong voice and radiant personality made her a perfect fit. Cherries, are now stronger than ever and each member brings a rejuvenated and united vibe to the ground breaking Italian female group.
GIANNA CHILLA' is a native of Rome and studied piano and opera singing at the S. Cecilia Conservatory. Gianna has always been a musician. She decided to follow her dreams and move in another direction after the 5 years, because of her decision hit the contemporary live stage. The conservatory required an everyday attendance, but Gianna had already gained a solid vocal harmony and piano preparation. All the way back when she received her first piano as a gift at the age of 5 until now, her music still has the rhythmic sounds of the keys. Although Gianna is from Rome, Italy, she has always written her songs in the English language. It was always a dream of hers that a day would come when she had a band that could share the dream. She wanted a group like the ones she watched on MTV as a little girl...
She began to broaden her scope by taking classical, jazz and hip hop dance courses in IALS of Rome and other art schools. She had her first professional experience in music in 1991 with well known pianist and composer Claudio Simonton, in his tour “Horror Project”. She performed as opera and rock singer, and she signed her first record contract in 1992 with MKS Records, a dance label. She released 3 singles that went number one in France, Italy and number 4 in Japan, reaching the top European radio charts, with the Echo Bass band, a duo composed of Gianna and Tami Dee, a rapper. Their success sent her out on 2 tours that lasted over a year in cities all over Europe. Gianna has since recorded with a number Italian artist like Simonton, Scholar Santorum, Alberto chilli, Mindscape, Pharmacia, Dora or, Blumoda, and many more. She opened a recording studio in 1995, the Nala Studio, in the very centre of Rome, and had 5 years experience as a sound engineer, learning to make professional recordings by herself. That ended up being of great use for her eventual Cherries project. Gianna makes all the music instrumental tracks along with cutting edge mixes. She also began working in the dubbing industry for many of the largest Italian companies. Never being satisfied with her talent, Gianna began to take acting courses and performed in 4 different theatrical productions from 2001 to 2002. After her time on the stage, she began to focus more on her long time vision to create female music group. Since 2003 she has dedicated herself completely to the Cherries project.
As for the other original member of the group Cherries, TERRY MATRONE, was born in Castellammare di Stabia (Naples). She was the oldest of 3 sisters in the Matrone family and initiated her love for music at an early age. She loved to sing and dance and she began performing in weddings by the age of 12. From 1986 to 1997 she attended continually classical, funky and jazz dance courses in “Il Cigno” Art school in Naples, instructed by respected teachers such as B. Biglieri and Silvana Mennitto, first dancers at S.Carlo Theatre in Naples. In 1995 she sang as a background vocalist for some of the major Italian artists of the time, like Sandro Giacobbe, Lena Biolcati, Fred Bongusto, Gatto Panceri, The Santo California, Franco Fasano and many more.
In 1999 Terry performed in a gospel choir, on a long tour in Italy. That experience helped form her solid harmonies and polyphonic choir ranges. Terry obtained classical disciplines and an interest in law as she explored her individual identity. When she is not consumed with her true love of Cherries, she is pursuing a Law Degree at Federico II College in Naples. It is one of the most well recognized Universities in Italy. As a pure parthenopean, Terry has always had music in her blood. Coming from the land of sun and singers, her chance to let her talent be heard came soon. She travelled and sang for well-known artists. One day she decided that the time had come to spread her wings further. She wanted to have a project of her own, a band with whom she could sing the tunes from deep inside her sole. In order for Terry to fulfil her dreams, she knew that a change of scenery was in order... In 2001 she moved to Rome where she continued working on dance by attending IALS. Since 2003 dedicated herself to Cherries, and the group's success is her most prized project.
Like the other members of Cherries, MARIA PAREO has a strong foundation in the arts. Her family knew that she was born to perform. In fact by the age of 5, Maria had made it to TV, on a famous Italian kids program called: ”Zecchino d..oro”. After her early TV experience her father stud by her side to foster her entertainment career development. Maria's father was a famous guitarist and they had a recording studio where she practiced daily. She followed in her father's footsteps by helping him with productions and chorus melodies. Even at an early age, Maria was exposed to many influential singers and musicians. At the age of 11 she started attending music school working on her vocals. Over that 4 year period she discovered a huge passion for Gospel, Soul, R&B and Funk music. At the age of 15, Maria was chosen by one of the biggest producers in Rome, Steve Galante, for an R&B/Soul/Pop. The entire project was in English and she worked in the studio over a 5 year period. While there she had the opportunity to work on a lot of different projects like: “Regina Rogers” (Maria was her official chorister), “Saranno famosi”, “Operazione Trionfo”, two of the biggest TV programs in Italy, and much more. With all of her early experience Maria began performing as a featured performer with DJ's around Italy.
A strong common bond with Gianna and Terry was that Maria was able to perform in Italian and English. Her artistic horizon and natural aptitude for acting has always made Maria glow in front of a camera. Her talent has grown over time so when she had the opportunity to develop a solo project, she jumped at the chance. Maria has progressively found her way by becoming a member of Cherries. Being part of this girls group she discovered that common ground mixed with a lifetime of work in entertainment industry can make you stronger. It makes you learn one of the most amazing things in life: “how to share”!!!! From the music to everyday life and Maria loves this feeling!
Gianna, Terry and Maria have gone through life's hard lessons and endured the challenges and pitfalls of the entertainment industry to create the most unified version of group, Cherries. With the soon to be released album and their pending invasion of the United States, the full frontal assault on the charts has begun. Not only has the group accomplished a successful transition, but its individual members have all had outstanding solo achievements. Collectively and on their own, they have become the face of the modern music movement in Italy. Now the rest of the world is getting a Close Up!! !!!!
