The Iron Man is a story about a man named Tony who searches for the ultimate fulfillment in life, whether it’s through power, success, wealth, inspiration, or love.
Married young, Tony finds himself restless and discontent living the nine to five familial existence. His suffocation soon overwhelms him and Nikki, his feisty lesbian best friend, suggests a motivational speaking experience that will soon change Tony’s life forever. The bizarrely impassioned seminar inspires Tony to relinquish both his material and matrimonial worlds and start anew. Once done, Tony now finds himself in an impoverished slump that then pushes him to break through social standards and to seek out more unconventional ways back to financial stability by inventing a penis enlarger called The Iron Man. With the help of an unsuspecting stranger, The Iron Man becomes a hit and starts to fly off the shelves launching Tony into wealth and fame.
However, still unsatisfied, Tony seeks out spiritual fulfillment in the form of the Dalai Lama. Upon meeting with his holiness, Tony wishes to lend his help in obtaining peace for the Tibetan people hoping that it will bring him happiness but instead finds himself all the more confused and lost. Disappointed, Tony returns home more restless than ever. Then one day at work, Tony comes up with the idea of making a movie, thinking it the best way to contribute to the world his own unique interpretation of life and love.
Jump ahead to the casting where Tony and Nikki are already in the mist of movie-making frenzy. During the auditions, Tony dreamily projects each of the actresses into the whimsical movie. The movie Tony is making tells a story of impossible love between Jenny and Sasha. Sasha, the exaggerated version of Tony’s more sensitive and romantic side struggles with Jenny’s love, as Jenny is the constant tragic and wise heroine elusive as Tony’s search for happiness. At the end of it all, Tony finds his actress and ripens with the knowledge that attaining the ultimate happiness in life is not nearly as important as the chase behind it. The absurd avenues Tony takes becomes the ultimate fulfillment within his bizarrely whimsical life.
