Love is without expectations..but apparently friendship is not

About Me

Hello! My name is Kittie Holmes and I am a 24-year-old activist located in the Seattle-ish area of beautiful Washington State. I was half tempted to put my entire history down in this section just to annoy people but decided against it. Instead, just a tiny bit of background.
I’m originally from the sunny state of Florida, born and raised. Although I consider myself a true Seattleite for two reasons; one, because I was conceived here and lived here in the womb for the first 6 months of my life and two, I love Seattle just as much as anyone born and raised here. So there. I moved here about five years ago, though, and have only left for short bits here and there since.
A few more things you should know about me is that I don’t really put up with bullshit. I don’t like drama, never have, never will (unless it’s on the television, then it’s entertainment). I am smart and I am a smart-ass, go figure. I like to be right, but if you prove to me in black and white I’m wrong, I’ll admit it. Until then, deal with it. I am non-violent, despite my Irish temper, and have been for going on seven years now. I don’t do drugs, I don’t drink much, and I’m not on here looking for nookie. Just friendship with others of a like-mind.
I am also spiritual, conforming to no one religion. I believe in simply living a good life, doing good things for our beautiful world, and being yourself. I both believe in and love God (though not as ‘God’ is defined) and know, truly, that I am God’s Child and I am loved. I believe that ‘God’ is merely just a term for all life, that when we are born, our spirit is given to us by the life force of the earth and that when we die, we simply return. All trees, all animals, all plants, all fish, all water, all LIFE is GOD. Simple as that.
I’m rambling, let me end this section for now. May you all be blessed with love and fortune!
This is my city and I love it.

So I went on a road trip this year with some friends (Afterglo and her son, Elvis and a few others) and we traveled from Seattle to Missoula, MT for their 11th annual Hempfest. Somehow, we ended up at the river, being barefoot hippies in the river and took a picture of our feet in the water. Mine are the ones with the folded up jeans above them…cause that’s what I was wearing, duh!

The hatchet, or axe, is one of the main symbols of the Psychopathic Family. While I’m not entirely sure what it means exactly, I believe it represents the strength of the Family, that we would defend our own to the end, that we are proud to be strong and free. But it could just be that it’s cool. Image Credit: Unknown

I thought this was pretty funny. I don’t remember where I got this, though, I think I ‘stole’ it from somebody’s my space page since that is where I get most of my pictures.

I'd like to meet:

Well, I’m open-minded so I’m always willing to meet just about anyone. On My Space, I’m here to meet like-minded people to converse with, other activists, and people in general. I’m also here to build up awareness of the wrongs in the world and how we can right them. My Space is truly becoming (well, has become, really) an excellent place to get information out to the people and to expand the activist communities. It’s beautiful how many activists are on here, I might add! Thank you for being here!

Music:

Tori Amos, Psychopathic Records (ICP, Twiztid, Boondox, AMB, etc), Evanescence, Voltaire, Lords of Acid, Barenaked Ladies, Blink 182, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, MC Frontalot, MC Chris, Nerdcore Rap (oh so funny!), Bloodhound Gang, Dr. Demento, Tenacious D, Weird Al and many, many more I can’t think of at this moment. I listen to a wide variety of music, from power pop to rap (though I’m not terribly fond of most hardcore gangster rap). I’m always willing to give new music a shot (that’s how I got into a lot of my favorites, actually) before I judge it.

Movies:

Let’s see….I have several movies that are tied for first place on my All-Time Favorite Moves list so I’ll list those first.
All-Time Favorite Movies!
1. Tank Girl
2. Empire Records
3. Reefer Madness
4. Moulin Rouge
5. Chicago
6. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Other movies I love are: Dogma, Star Wars Series, Lord of the Rings series, Harry Potter series, Wrinkle in Time, X-Men series, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Click (and pretty much anything with Adam Sandler, man’s a genius), and many, many more. I love watching movies and my interests vary in this subject as much as they do in music. I love horror, romance, fantasy, sci-fi (LOVE sci-fi), drama, historical, documentaries, comedy, old, new, cheesy, not so cheesy, and so on. I love movies. Period!

A clip from Reefer Madness...I love the costumes!

Television:

Let’s see….Futurama, Family Guy, Simpson’s, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, Sailor Moon series, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, My Hero (UK superhero comedy, very funny and weird), Hex, Oh! My Goddess, Tenchi Muyo, Firefly (even though they cancelled it…*sigh*), and many, many more! Again, my interests vary greatly and I’m always willing to check out a new show.

Books:

Oh boy, I’m not even going to try to list them all. However, a few authors that always stand out in my book (haha) are: Stephen King, Jane Yolen, V.C. Andrews, Nora Roberts, Beatrice Small, Anne McCaffrey, Edgar Allen Poe, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Douglas Adams. My favorite subject among books, however, is historical fiction. Fiction based on historical events (accurately based) but put together with a fictional story. For example, a book about twin (boy and girl) spies during the civil war. The story is about them AND the civil war, but it’s possible those characters didn’t really exist. I love those books. It brings history to life. My second favorite would have to be a tie between fantasy and sci-fi. I’m fascinated by the universe beyond my sight and the fantasy worlds people create.

Heroes:

My heroes aren’t famous (well, most of them aren’t…and some of them are psuedo-famous) and are determined, passionate, ordinary people who do extra-ordinary things. The first on the list is Vivian McPeak, director of Seattle Hempfest and long-time activist for peace. He’s a beautiful man with a strong, passionate spirit and I admire him greatly. He’s done so much for so very long and he keeps on going, and going, and going. Each and every year, he directs Seattle Hempfest and inspires people to stand up and fight (peacefully, intelligently) for their rights.

Second on the list is Willie Nelson. His strong, determined spirit inspires people everywhere and his music touches millions..(maybe billions?) of people, young and old.

Third on the list is Angelina Jolie and it’s because I have mad respect for her as an actress. She’s amazing. Not only is she good at what she does, she goes the extra mile other actors won’t. Like dangerous stunts and spending almost everyday for a year in real training for a part (Tomb Raider, she did most of her own stunts and learned to do all the things her character did. She took it very seriously and still keeps it up to this day, saying it made her stronger both in mind and body). Right on, Angelina!
Fourth on the list is Dennis Leary. Enough said.
And last, but never least, my heroes are the people who stand up when no one else will and say “That’s not right!”. The people who fight death and illness everyday and still put others before them. The people who rise up above circumstances and keep on going. The people who survive. The people who live and love. The people who become soldiers to defend our country, freedoms and ideals. The people who see good in all things. These are everyday heroes and they deserve to be applauded.
