About Me

A creative Signmaker/ Fashion Designer by day & a fun-loving Barbershop Singer by night (Tenor on a leave from the Prairie Gold Chorus, Sweet Adelines International, Region 26) I transplanted my life to the big city of T.O. for a few years, but couldn't resist coming home to them wheat fields and pairie lilies. My Interests

Clothing and Textiles/ Sewing, Tattoos, Music/ Singing and Dancing, Pin-ups, Hot Rods, my 1970 Fiat Spider convertible, the colours Orange and Red, Ethiopian and Thai cuisine, Monster Cookie Blizzards, Crossword Puzzles and Spiders

I'd like to meet:

Well, my grandmother met Jerry Lee Lewis, and my mama met Johnny Cash... so I better think this one over long and hard and make it worth my while...

Music:

I have too many favorite musicians and bands to list... but music genres that I prefer to listen to are Rockabilly, Rock n Roll, Punk and Barbershop. These styles are all very different and yet so raw and smooth. Okay, I'll name one band that does not fit into any of these categories, but is still velvet: Dredg.

Movies:

La cite des enfants perdus (The City of Lost Children), Nightmare Before Christmas, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Rules of Attraction... and Monster Movies!

Television:

I watch Farmer Cable - the kind of channels you get when you plug in an old-school TV and adjust the bunny ears. As long as I can watch Nip/Tuck and Arrested Development... I'll be fine...

Books:

Griffin and Sabine by Nick Bantock; Edgar Allen Poe: Sixty-Seven Tales, One Complete Novel, The Raven and Thirty Other Poems; and back in the day my favorite book was Sideways Stories from Wayside School... because some kid got a tattoo of a potato.

Heroes:

My Grandfather (the late P.P.S. - I miss you! and thank you for getting to know me so well!) and my sister Tavie Jade - you are one special little girl!

My Blog

I am.

I am a whole lot more woman than many of you thought upon quick glance. I think I needed to show you that, in order give myself more confidence, more trust, more self-respect, and more laughs.  I...

Fate vs. Intent

I'm not really sure how I feel about fate.  I'd like to say I believe in fate.  However this is a concept that I've struggled with  for a while now. fate n. a power that supposedly pred...

For the Late P.P.S. - A Legacy that Lives On

When I am asked about my last name, why I don't have the same last name as either of my parents, I am proud to say it comes from you. When I am questioned about where I picked up my skills, where I&nb...

Of Boys and Men

It's a good feeling to know you have long-lasting friendships.  To know that someone is genuinely excited to see you, even when you haven't talked in days... or weeks... or months... and yes...

One of these things is not like the others

Yes.  I took another quiz.  This one helped me procrastinate a little. Some of this describes me to a tee.  There is one point however that has not been a part of me for ...

Nothing in life is for free.

I am sitting here with my heart pounding in my throat and my stomach tying itself in knots.  How far is too far?  The line has been crossed, but maybe I've been allowing it to get this far.&...

Do I detect a pattern here?

Every time I see one of these silly quizes, I stop whatever it is that I am doing and I take the time to answer all questions... quite thoughtfully I might add. Surprisingly enough (to me anyway) ther...
