Originally spawned from an idea conceived and released on Perce-Oreille records (P.O -7), the emphasis was on the dancefloor's public being the test subject of an elaborate experiment that mixes the darker side of electronica with a comical edge.
Its primary perpetrator, CRYSTAL DISTORTION / GEARSHIFTER, whilst also responsible for improvised live electronic performances, uses the LaBrat concept as a place to explore the composition and arrangement side of dance productions: a touch of the familiar to drive us all towards the unknown.
2005 and LaBrat Audiochemicals have taken on board some extra crew members after scouring the digital landscape to find them. After a series of sporadic releases from year to year, the test vessel LaBrat is now fully operational, and ready to take you further than ever before......

RATTABLE SELECTAS is a collection of tracks judiciously selected and arranged , which puts forward new talents from the British and French scene each one them having different backgrounds, but all led by the same frenzy of rhythm and sonic mayhem. The productions oscillate between breakbeat, electro and wonky tekno to reveal a dynamic sound coexisting in perfect harmony with grime and big beat .Indeed, the protagonists are as varied in their origins as in their composition;starting with SKEW (us) 3D graphic designer who worked on projects such as Star Wars, Sleepy Hollow, Harry Potter, proposing here a cartoon like break beat style,then MIDILINK (Fr) and his elektrik' bass already noticed on World Traveler Adventurer (UWE) who collaborates with PROBE1 co founder of Marseille based breakbeat label TORSION records, this title is a result of smashing basslines and high-tech rhythm edits.Followed by SUNKA(Fr), Arts graduate who uses the sum total of the influences of his musical development to provide an organic breakbeat resolutely dancefloor.On the other side, WIREBUG aka DAN HEKATE(uk) tackles the temporal rhythm structuration, involving discontinuity and sequences variation, creating a jagged break with piercing tones.Like LUKES ANGER where 4x4 beats and deep bass weave into accelerating alternate sequences composing a wonky tekno leading astray.And to conclude one of our oldest experimentTHE GEARSHIFTER better known as CRYSTAL DISTORTION .
