Blending influences from Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, David Gray and Jack Johnson, James Davies brings a warm and passionate style with songs like the aftertaste of a good red wine.Moving from England in 2001, James was inspired by the Australian climate and attitude to start writing his own material between busking in Sydney’s CBD and railway stations as well as covers for the after-work pub crowds, of course played in his own style.As soon as there were sufficient songs in his repertoire, James got about impressing a lot of people with his heartfelt and engaging live shows. The reminiscence of ‘Here’, the tenderness of ‘Hello Mama’ or ‘Watching Over You’ and the romp of ‘New year only begin to explore James’ journey on this planet thus far.Being asked to play at Surry Hills’ Excelsior Hotel, a corner stone of the Sydney live music scene, soon led to supports with Mark Seymour, Sarah McLeod and Mental As Anything to name a few. James has played in most of Sydney’s most sought after live music venues including a headline spot at the prestigious Vanguard at Newtown. Most recently James appeared at the Peat’s Ridge Festival which saw the debut of his band.The story continues with the release of his EP titled ‘said and done’ and James currently working on material for his first full-length CD release which is greatly anticipated by fans from both inside and outside the music industry.
