About Me

SETHE'S WORLD:
A unique style of poise and realism can only be described in the name “Sethe.” Mistaken for the opposite sex by those who have never seen her and only heard her name, Sethe exemplifies strong character and mellowness to the nth degree.A native of Detroit , Michigan , Sethe Tucker spent the majority of her life in Hattiesburg , Mississippi . At the age of 6, she was cast as Satchel Paige's youngest sister in the movie production of his life, “Satchel Paige: Don't Look Back”. Being an active and imaginative child, Sethe would sing all the time despite her parents' on-going requests for quiet. Often times she would gather her family members in the family room to applaud her performances after dinner. She loved to perform in front of anyone who was willing to watch.Through middle school, Sethe dedicated most of her time to choreographing and helping the show choir, of which she was a part of for four years. Interested in the Suzuki method of piano, she began taking lessons at the age of ten. Because of her unique voice at such a young age, Sethe began singing at local weddings at the age of twelve.Sethe then entered high school and wanted to find other avenues to expand on the talents she already possessed. She starred as Dorothy in Hattiesburg Coalition for Community Arts' first major production of the Broadway musical “The Wiz.” This role led to other Broadway productions presented by Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera—Chastity in “Anything Goes,” and a ‘Spic' in “West Side Story”. Selected as one of ten participants across the state, Sethe performed with a show choir at the Mississippi Special Olympics. Although performing and singing were her passions, she filled up any down time with varsity cheerleading, varsity basketball and a part time job at Shoney's restaurant.Sethe enrolled at Colorado State University (CSU) where she began working with Tommy McMillion on individual projects, which would later become known as Inlay Entertainment. At CSU's first “Apollo Night,” she won first place out of ten competing acts. She started her act with Oleta Adams' “Get Here,” and caught the audience by surprise when she finished up with Mary J. Blige's “Reminisce.” For this performance she received a standing ovation. The rest of her time at Colorado State would allow her to represent the university by singing the National Anthem and Alma Mater at many of the basketball games and various commencements. In addition to these events, she performed at the university's 1870's Dinner, a $500 per plate, gala black tie event.Sethe has continued to develop her talent and build her name with a wide range of appearances, projects, and performances. - Featured on a song entitled “Honey Coated,” with Miss Black America. The song was released on the compilation “Blowin' Up Da Spot”. - A performance of the National Anthem at the Colorado Rockies/Florida Marlins national baseball game. - Performances with Ben Adkins, a former bass player for the “Jackson Five.” - Performances with the UBU Band for special engagements. - Projects with various independent musical artists including vocal arrangements and choreographing of stage shows. - Opening performances for the nationally known acts of Sunshine Anderson, Salt-N-Pepper, and Kelis. Presently, Sethe works exclusively with Inlay Entertainment. She has performed and extended inventory of songs with Inlay. Sethe is the featured vocalist on her new CD release, “Slow Train Comin'”. Unlike the history of her name, she's all woman. A unique blend of vivacious realism, Sethe is confident about gifts she's been given and wants to share them with all who will listen.
