Equbal Sharif

Equbal Sharif is a lost gem from jazz's rich past!

About Me

Equbal Sharif was born in 1898 and immigrated to the United States in 1918 from a Phoenecian colony in Cyprus. His music is catigorized as "hot jazz", and he was well known during the depression in speak easies from New York to Chicago. Equbal Sharif acheived a large following with his wacky vocal styalization, as well as his clarinet playing. In addition to his night club act, Equbal Sharif was also the organist for the Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church in Hoboken, New Jersey. Equbal Sharif mysteriously disapeared in 1935 after a bath tub full of gin exploded in his face and burnt off his eye brows.
