Dangamouse aka Barry Glen has been a recent pioneer for the breakbeat sound in Scotland, and a favorite within the underground club scene. His sets are recognized and respected for their high energy, unique track selection and often experimental edge. His eclectic shows focus more on the heavier Tearout Breaks end of the genre but he can throw in a wide range of styles from Hip Hop, Dubstep, Electro to Drum n Bass, Its all about tha MASH UP!!!
Barry has had a healthy addiction to electronic music and collecting vinyl since the age of 14, picking up his first set of decks age 15 he cut his djing teeth on the hardcore rave sounds of the early nineties, being inspired by artists like Citadel of Kaos, Dj Seduction, Luna C & of course The Prodigy. As this style of music evolved into Drum n Bass, Dangamouse was already hiting up Glasgow clubs armed with mix tapes, looking for that ever elusive break into the scene. A chance meeting with Paul Reset (Nerve Recordings) secured him a guest slot on Paul's Infinite Mass show for Radio Magnetic , this lead on to Dangamouse being booked at various raves & bars around Glasgow, before landing his own residency at Bar Gaudi with a night called Ruffage.
After a year of playing out regularly Dangamouse slowly made the transition to Nu Skool Breaks. It was around this time he met up with graphic designer/Producer James Greig aka 3 Stripe After some time in the studio they decided to put together a platform with which they could showcase their music and design ideas plus creating an outlet for breakbeat in Glasgow, so with that they set up Tongue n Groove , and in April 2003 they launched there first club night with great success. Since then Tongue n Groove has gone on to host many events, with guests such as Future Funk Squad , Grizzla , Thomas The Search Engine , High Eight , Jackmaster , Transformerman & Emmanuel Ferreria to name a few. July 2006 will see Dangamouse re-locating to Vancouver BC, where he has already taken steps to extend & continue his projects in Canada, eventualy turning Tongue n Groove into an international club night.
