Started in Champaign, Illinois in 2005 as an idea from Bassist Lynyrd "Lunkhead" Hiney. Lynyrd has been playing bass and sang off and on since 1987, and has played in a few metal bands in and around central Illinois (most noted for...bassist/vocalist of the band P.I.S.T.). He always thought it would be a cool idea even back in the mid-90's to create a hybrid of original material that crossed heavy 70's Southern Rock (like Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, and Ram Jam), 80's Speed/Thrash Metal (Slayer, Exodus, Celtic Frost), and 70's Bluesy Classic Rock (ZZ Top, Foghat, Grand Funk Railroad) together into one kick-ass band. Well, Lynyrd was toying with this dream for a long time and even told people about the idea and everyone said that it would be awesome, so he figured why the hell not?! So in 2005, Lynyrd got the proper motivation after being fed up with the current music scene after hearing countless bands playing the same covers and "original" bands sounding like everyone else that plays "original music", that he decided to get a band together and write some tunes. Joining Hellbilly in the crusade to change the face of the music scene forever is a newcomer by the name of Ralph Luckey, who is now 14 years old (yeah, and THIRTEEN years old at the time of the recording of our CD) and Lynyrd's step-son, and he can rock along side any adult drummer this side of Dixie!!! Well, we relocated to Ohio in 2006, and we wrote some songs and entered the studio in the summer of 2007 with Pig on guitar (who just so happens to be Lynyrds brother-in-law and Ralphs uncle!). Pig has played in countless bands in and around Nashville TN. Hellbilly tore up the Ohio scene for a brief minute, and then re-located in June 2008 to the Ozark Mountains in Missouri. Presently, we are on the search for a new guitarist, and are preparing to play some live shows and record again sometime in the future....
