Relax; nothing is under control

About Me

Well, I'm no longer new here... in fact I'm a bit of a veteran but still have mercy :D. I'd like to say I was pretty laid back but I don't know if that would be a lie! I'm not a fighter, I'm a bleeder. I love those rare moments when you just don't care what's coming. I like peppermint tea... and playing my bass ^_^ and long warm showers that's all I can commit to writing at this moment... I'm a little dazed :POh yeah, and apparently: hehe...pero soy como soy, con mis dias buenos y mis dias malos, mis virtudes y mis defectos ... i can be a bit of an indecisive bugger...
A definition of Maeve... apparenty kind of accurate...

My Interests

I like trying new stuff out I suppose. I like sport in most shapes or forms. I'm a mean badminton player :) I just went on a windsurfing holiday which was great... I've discovered a bit of a passion for that and actually prefer it to surfing. ermm... I've always loved music. I used to play the piano and the sax which was great but now I'm playing bass which I love- bass players are in demand! :P I do languages and stuff- get far-flung contacts on messenger to teach me their language :D. I also like art, photogrphy and cooking sad as i am :P I'm interested in... my friends. They're a great bunch of people and are all intriguing.

I'd like to meet:

Those who are a little different, I guess.WARNING TO EVERYPEOPLES... well, not all that big a warning, just to say that i'm pretty bad at replying to comments... slightly better at replying to e-mails. I'm not on here all that often and if i don't reply, very sorry and it is no judgement on yourself! yeah... i'm either lazy or very busy in life.

Music:

My Mum and Dad play in a jazz band and so I grew up listening to modern jazz. I like stuff with swing, an unusual beat. I reckon my taste is kinda eclectic. Favourites include Radiohead, Test Icicles, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, THOM YORKE, I used to be a huge fan of RHCP and I still love Blood Sugar Sex Majik, Muse, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Mars Volta, The Kooks, Queens of the Stone Age, The Rapture, Placebo, Nirvana, Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian, Bloc Party, Tom Vek :) , Cake, Jamie T, Plan B, RATM, Beck, Hot HOt Heat, Air, Gorrillaz, CSS, local bands: Bo Diddley Squat, Zeus and Sod's Law; The Coral, 'Joleen' by Dolly Parton :P, The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, Dirty Pretty Things, The Strokes, Abdullah Ibriham, Massive Attack, The Cure, The Undertones, The Clash, Bob Marley, The Specials, Maximo Park, The Police (singing+bass playing of sting all good), love 'Pretty Vacant' by Sex Pistols, The Stranglers, The Easy Star All Stars (Radiodread!), Kwabena, Pink Floyd, 'Fools Gold' of The Stone Roses, Fleetwood Mac, Daft Punk, Willy Mason, I love Damien Rice... along with stuff like Trivium (Matt Heafy :P), Metallica, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, Pantera and Killswitch Engage which the band's introduced me to.

Movies:

I love films but they mess with your head! You start to believe at any moment the love of your life could walk in the door or an argument could escalate into a full on hack-slash... OK... maybe it's only me. I like foreign films that present different ideologies or romanticisms with what life is like elsewhere. Then again, some of my favourite films are pretty grim. Favourite films include: Donnie Darko, Amelie, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, Goodbye Lenin!, Brokeback Mountain, Trainspotting, Jarhead, Kill Bill I + II, Pulp Fiction and there's probably a few more that have slipped my mind. I love the kind of camp films my uncles have introduced me too... like Elvira and Priscilla Queen of the Desert

Television:

I watch TV when I need to numb my brain. I like classics such as Spaced, the Cowboy Bebop series, Malcolm in the Middle, Scrubs, Eurotrash, Black Books, Father Ted and MTV2 + the Mighty Boosh! A kind of guilty pleasure is Sex and the City... as dizzy and neurotic as it is I kinda relate to Carrie.

Books:

I'm not a particuarly avid reader but I do like Catcher in the Rye, I love the Fruits photography book on Japenese fashion and I'm reading Lolita at the moment. I'd say my favourite book is Portnoy's Complaint... and someone's getting me to read Strip Jack at the moment by Ian Rankin.

Heroes:

Was it Nelson Mandela who said heroes aren't needed?... or something. Those around me who like me for me and who are genuine are my heroes :D
