Teddy Bishop aka “The Godfather†is a Grammy nominated multi-platinum producer, songwriter and composer known for his grown and sexy ballads. “Music is definitely my first love, always has been,†says Teddy. A native of Detroit, Teddy was definitely influenced by the “Motown Sound.†While watching Michael Jackson perform on television, when he was five, Teddy was inspired to make beats on pots and pans. Realizing his artistic interest, his mother purchased him a drum set and history began writing itself. A self taught musician, Teddy plays a number of different instruments such as the piano, drums and guitar. At age fourteen, Teddy began participating in various talent shows and attended the Detroit Institute of Arts where he studied recording engineering. He then became a band member of the R&B group Kiara, who was signed to Clive Davis’ label, Arista Records. The group eventually disbanded and went their separate ways but the group’s lead singer encouraged Teddy to pursue a career as a producer and songwriter. After moving to Atlanta, Teddy signed to LaFace Records as a producer. “LA Reid and Babyface took Teddy under their wing and became Teddy’s mentors. It was during this time that one of his songs was placed on Toni Braxton’s debut LP, which sold more than 18 million copies. LA Reid and Babyface were very instrumental in Teddy’s development as the super producer he is today. Since then, Teddy has contributed to the sales of more than 40 million albums worldwide. Throughout his career Teddy has pinned several ..1 hits, his first being, Montell Jordan’s single “Let’s Ride†which earned Teddy a platinum ..1 hit on the Billboard charts. Also Toni Braxton’s hit “Just be a man about itâ€, which became the national anthem for women off her 3rd platinum LP entitled “The Heat“. This song reached ..1 on the R&B charts and helped catapult the album from gold to platinum status. This led him to later join forces with mentor and friend Chris Hicks of Noontime Music for management. Shortly thereafter, he worked with the beautiful Aaliyah before her unfortunate death to write and produce the hit song “I Miss You†which was the ..1 video on BET’s 106 & Park countdown for over 65 weeks. Teddy definitely knows how to create a hit record, such as 2006’s smash hit “Torn†by LaToya Luckett formerly of Destiny Child. The video spent 63 weeks on BET’s 106 & Park countdown and went to ..1 on billboards R&B charts. Other artist Teddy has worked with include multi-platinum selling artist B2K, Genuine, Usher, Whitney Houston‘s ..1 hit, “Your Love Is My Love“, Jagged Edge, production on the multi-platinum “Dr. Dolittle†soundtrack and “Next Friday†soundtrack, just to name a few. Teddy is in the studio grinding out hits for artists like Bobby Valentino, Chris brown, Red Dirt, Bella, So So Def recording Artist John’ta Austin, Jazzy Pha’s prot..g.. group Nephu, Kelly Rowland and Q-Amey. Teddy has won numerous BMI awards for Songwriter and Producer of the Year. He continues to stay in the studio creating hit songs that will stand the test off time. Teddy learned from some of the best producers in the game that at the end of the day you have to write great songs. Anyone can write a song, but not everyone can produce a classic. Teddy learned how artist were made into stars while working at LaFace Records and he has carried that knowledge into his own dreams of creating his own artist. He’s done that with newly signed and soon to be released Def Jam artist Sterling Simms. “Sterling is the second coming, a great artist in the making and will be around for a long time“ says Teddy. Teddy used his relationships with his producer and writer friends, John’ta Austin, Bryan Michael Cox, Sean Garrett, The Corner Boys and Adonis Shorpshire and put together a demo that caught the attention of LA Reid, the man who put Teddy in the music game. LA also saw that same star quality in Sterling that Teddy did and instantly signed him to a Def Jam Records contract with Teddy as co-executive producer of Sterling’s long anticipated debut album titled “The Jump Off†through his newly launched production company, Groove Factor Productions. With Groover Factor Productions, he plans to continue making hits, as well as signing new writers, producers and artists. In the future, he plans to score more movies and establish new business ventures of his own. Determined not to confine his style and sound to a box, Teddy is constantly learning and growing in his ability. Currently, he is in the studio working vigorously on songs that people will love and appreciate. After all, he plans on being around for a while, “It’s freedom of expression and creativity,†Teddy says of his gift. It’s what he has always wanted to do since he was old enough to know and he gives God all the praise for that! "Put me, my tracks and the right artist in the studio and leave the door cracked and let GOD in.â€
