Following the release of his self financed debut album ‘If You’re Standing, You’re Fair Game’, Coventry singer/songwriter Al Britten has shared the bill with acts such as The Enemy, Narina Pallot, Nizlopi, Vijay Kishore, and Devon Sproule to name a few. Al has developed a stark and intricate guitar style that, coupled with hooky melodies, provides the perfect backdrop to deliver his thought provoking and conscientious lyrics.
Very much a product of his surroundings, Al’s music journeys through the backstreets taking in the good and the bad along the way. Whether as observer or subject, his narrative conjures images of dirty bars, badly lit alleyways, even the ghosts of car factory workers and shines a redemptive light on them all.
Brought up on a mixture of 90s grunge and 60s folk, Al takes a contemporary Dylan or Nick Drake and wraps them up in a gritty package, testament to the fact that songs you want to hum can also carry a message.
