Born in Queens, New York - Home of RUN DMC, 50 Cent, Salt & Pepa. Raised in the Lone Star state,TEXAS - Home of Scarface, Geto Boyz, DJ Screw, U.G.K, the filthy-filthy South! I've always loved listening to the radio, I was just drawn to it. I remember the first time I was on the air. It was on a phone call to KIKK and Willy Sancho put me on the air! It changed me, it took me a year after High School to finally figure out what I wanted to pursue.
Growing up I listened to some of the great radio stations like Z-100 in New York, 93-Q and KLOL in Houston.
Been in the radio game since 1991, worked at KACC-Alvin, Texas with a radio station signal that bearly got pass the parking lot! (lol-*rimshot) Found my first radio job (after a lot of begging and pleading) working for $50.00 a week at a AM Christian Country radio station KYND-AM. (yes it's the truth!)
Found my first "real-paying" job at KXTJ-SuperTejano 108. Worked with great people like Gilbert Quintanilla, Gil Romero, Bo Coronoa, Rudy The Flash "ahh-a" and Johnny O. After working for 3 yrs at SuperTejano 108 and KQQK, found my first job at the #1 Hip-hop station in H-Town! 97-9 The Box. Best years!! Learning from the best in the biz! Shoutin to my people...Scorpio, Bobby Z, Hatta, KID Fresh, Shelly Wade, L.T., T-Grey, Luscious ICE! Also worked at KHYS (Kiss 98-5 and Kiss Again 103.3) with a few greats there also. Dave Moralez, Todd Tucker, The Kracker Nutz, Johnny J., DJ Kamikaze and Michael Yo! These were great days for my career in my hometown of Houston.
After considering a move up in the business, I took a chance to work with a few of my BOX friends to form a new station in East Texas. Worked mornings for 102-7/106-9 The Blaze! Not really a morning person, I loved getting people ready for school and work in East Texas. It was important to me. I actually miss doing mornings. Miss those Blaze listeners!! Then moved to Greensboro, North Kack-a-lacky (Carolina) and worked afternoons at 94-5 The Beat. Great staff with great friends that I still holla at! Mad love to: Mark the Man of Steele, Crash, Roadkill Momma, Chris Rollins, The Mighty Tom Whitey, Satterfields, all the promo staff at CCGSO and of course a great friend Newtdogg!! Thank you guys for treating me like family!
After a year and a half in Greensboro, I found my new home here in Indianapolis.
When I heard Hip-hop for the first time-it changed me. I can still rememeber seeing the grafitti covered "7" trains from Flushing Queens to Manhattan. Still remember the days of hearing the beats on the streets with people flowing. To see this music grow into what it has become-It's incredible. But to actually work with artists and play this music on the radio. I get to enjoy best of both worlds. As a fan and as a worker.
