LATE TO BLOOm

About Me

From the upstate of South Carolina ,Greenville area rock band LATE TO BLOOm has been writing, recording and performing it's own unique blend of rock and roll for over a decade.Inspired from childhood by the rock super groups of the 70's and 80's such as Led Zepplin,Eagles,Pink Floyd,Boston,Foreigner,Journey and U2 ,the band members actually came of age during the heyday of Heavy Metal. It was the mid to late 80's when the screaming guitars, thundering drums and bombastic behavior of groups like Motley Crue,Guns and Roses,Metallica,Dokken,Queensryche,Tesla and Iron Maiden stimulated then 12 year old brothers Jeff and Jamey Bailey to beseech Santa for an electric guitar and drum set, respectively. Not long after, their paths would cross with fellow metal head and future vocalist virtuoso Shane Lasseter .A flurry of band names and line ups would follow. By the early 90's the trio were embracing not only the emerging Grunge and Alternative rock scenes, but the singer/songwriter genres of James Taylor,Van Morrison,Elton John,Simon and Garfunkle,Bread,Billy Joel,Dan Fogleberg and Bob Segar ,who penned many of the big radio staples the boys cherished from their youth. They even opened themselves up to new wonders such as Hip Hop,Jazz,Country and Electonica. An eclectic mix of influences began to shape the styles of the songwriters that would define LATE TO BLOOm. The millennium ushered in a new era for LATE TO BLOOm .After a brief hiatus the songwriting team decided to put the band back together to record and perform new material. With Jamey keeping time on the drums, Jeff maintaining the lead guitar and Shane relieving himself of rhythm guitar duties to concentrate on being a full-time front man,the trio recruited long-time friend Lance Lister as a secondary guitarist. Lance is equally comfortable picking the light acoustic ballads or trading licks with Jeff on the fire and brimstone rockers. In April of 2005 tragedy struck with the untimely death of bassist and good friend Chris Clayton .After an exhausting search for a replacement the new group found one right under their noses in Jeff and Jamey's younger brother Ben Davis .Beginning his tenure as a novice, Ben quickly picked up on the refined bass lines previously written, and eventually began to express his own ideas and personality as an ever seasoned player. The new-fangled,highly motivated LATE TO BLOOm burst onto the local scene in the spring 2005 spending the year feeling out the live experience and fine tuning the new songs before spending six months in the studio recording a 12 track self-titled CD. The LATE TO BLOOm sound and style can transcend genres, but easily blends into most pop and radio formats. From heavy anthem-like rockers " Who's Proud " and " Uh Huh " that would fit easily on latter day Motley Crue or Tesla albums,to the haunting ballad " All She Wrote " and the inspiring " Keep In Touch " which reminisce whith the likes of alt-country favorites Son Volt and Ryan Adams ,to the soundscape tinged " Surreal " and " A Piece Of Our Misery " which recall the big echo of U2 ,to the ready-for-rock radio " Was It " and " 21 More Days ",which would have made LATE TO BLOOm an ideal opener for a young touring Journey ,the boys can plow through an all out metal meltdown with the Queensryche motivated " My Hemlock " or pull on the heart strings with the quintessential power ballad " A Box Can't Hold A Love Song ".Lyrically, the song catalog dabbles in philosophy, history, humor, folklore, party anthems and various forms of storytelling, but focuses most heavily on relationships.Whether dealing with infatuation ( Surface Tension ),shifts of power ( A Piece Of Our Misery ),abandonment ( All She Wrote ),friendship ( Stoned On Yesterday ),or star-crossed love ( Fine For Awhile ),there's a LATE TO BLOOm song that captures almost every emotional build-up or breakdown. And with close to 100 songs between them, the three writers have plenty of material to flesh out. LATE TO BLOOm live is pure rock'n roll adrenaline. With a myriad of shows ranging from small barrooms to large outdoor venues under their belts, the boys look forward to conquering the broader southeast and beyond...
