''WHO ARE DA BLOCK-BURNAZ''From The Goretti Playgrounds of New Orleans East to the streets and airwaves of the nation! The Hip-Hop industry is about to be set on FIYA! Young Kris (kristopher Shelby) and Lil’ Blaze (Blake Miller Jr.) are the devious duo known as Da Block Burnaz!Their drive for success prompt them to call every record label in the Yellow Pages of New Orleans. Ironically, one of the phone calls turned out to be a retailer instead. Gimmick Records, known for their huge support of the indie labels of New Orleans, heard ‘Da Burnaz lyrical prowlness and immediately called Rob Shaw (Big Boy/South Coast Records. But because of the projects at hand, Mr. Shaw was not interested at the time. One page ends as another one turned when Misdemeana (of the legendary Partners-N-Crime duo), a South Coast Group, took interest and arranged an audition of the two young gunners.So impressed by the likes of Ms. T, 5th Ward Weebie, and the other half of P-N-C, Kangol Slim, ‘Da Burnaz were invited to record their 1st single on the South Coast Compilation of “HardHitters” which featured Juvenile, U.N.L.V., Lil’ Wayne’s protégées, SQAD UP and The Late Soulja Slim! P-N-C took them under their wing as they were forming their own indie label, CRIMELABB Entertainment and thus put out ‘Da Burnaz 1st project entitled, “OVERHEATED” (distributed by Big Boy Records), after the duo gained vast popularity through WQUE 93.3FM (N.O., LA.). Not by airplay (although that would happen later), these fierce cats laid it down on “Da 9’o Clock Props,” a nightly freestyle battle, hosted by on air personality “Wild” Wayne Benjamin. After several weeks of winning, the devious duo started to conquer the “Hot 8 at 8” segment with their hit single, “Work That Thing,” featuring Magnolia Chop, for 8 consecutive months beating out the likes of National Recording Artists’ 50Cent, Ludacris, Usher and others.Da Block Burnaz 2 minds, 2 bodies, 1 intention!
