My Interests

Networking, Socializing, Organizing, Mobilizing, Politicizing, Conversing, Learning, Observing, Supporting. Sports: Futbol and Football, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Wrestling, Volleyball, Bowling, Swimming, Track, Skating, Biking, Martial Arts & of course I'm interested in Music, Movies, Television, & Books (see below)

Music:

I recently had a conversation with a good friend about music and our inner beats. I can't prove it yet (I confess to not being as well versed in the study and technical aspects of music), but I believe that there is something inside that is ignited through certain beats (different people have different beats maybe). It feels as if my blood carries the energy throughout my entire being and the fire in me burns with the beat. Either that or I'm crazy, but hey its worked for me this far. No matter how bad it has gotten (and its gotten pretty shitty), as soon as my ears register that familiar sound and energetic beat, I draw from its energy and use it to feed me. I like to think of my taste as eclectic. Just when one thinks they've figured out my musical taste, I change it up. Once again, its not me its the beats. From Los Bukis to Selena, Ramon Ayala to la Sonora Dinamita, Third Eye Blind to Nirvana, Papa Roach to Incubus, Dr. Dre to Cypress Hill, Snoop to Bone Thugz, The Smiths to The Police, Ska-P to La Resistencia, music is something I like to rediscover every day and finding new artists that I like is something I am trying to do continuously.

Movies:

Before I start talking about what movies I like, I'd like to say that whoever came up with netflix.com or the concept of online movie rentals was a true innovator that saw a need - and while surely screwed other people along the process - has brought us something truly not necessary but great nonetheless. That being said, for the last 10 years I've been watching movie after movie and I thought to myself, "hey, i think I watch alot of movies!" But in the last three years I've come to realize I hadn't even began to scratch the surface. Apparently I've been missing out on staples of cinema and film that no true movie fan can go without. Some of the bad ass films I've seen in the last 3 months include Cecil B. Demented, The Warriors, Goodfellas (i know, i know, what was I on...), Defending your Life, Newsies, Chicken Run, Blade Runner, American Psycho, and I'll change this list up in a few more months...

Television:

varies

Books:

Reading is a big passion of mine that unfortunately often times gets pushed aside. That being said, I will pretty much pick up any book and give it a good glimpse. I don't always finish my books, does that say something about the book, me, or both? Anyway, I am always looking for other suggestions as to what to read. Drop me a line, lets talk books.

Heroes:

I'll tell you my story, will you tell me yours? You can be my hero, and I can be yours. I've found that while I don't have many "heroes" in the normal sense of the word, I have an endless list of everyday heroes that I draw inspiration and strength from. Maria, Delfino, Ofelia, Jose, los prima/os, los tia/os, los amigos, mis maestra/os, my co-workers, my classmates, those that worked two jobs to stay in school, el humilde, el valiente, y mucha/os mas.
