John Farley A.K.A. JohnnyRay...
At the age of twenty-eight, JohnnyRay possesses lyrical and musical talent that has impressed many in the industry over the past 15 years. In the early 90's JohnnyRay was known as "DJ Kid Madness" the youngest DJ in charge on the mixtape scene running alongside of Dj Red Alert, Dj Clue, Dj Ron G, Dj Domino and more. From NY to LA he blessed the streets with unique blends and cuts, but he knew that was not enough and still craved for more in this large music empire. Johnny slowed down on the tape scene and relocated his creative abilities in 1998 by becoming a writer and head producer for the family of Dustbin Records where he fulfilled his passions and discovered his own hidden talents.
In 2000 The singer/songwriter, penned on the biggest release of Dustbin Records makin his appearance on the T-Head "Heads Up" Album not only as a producer but for his lyrical cameo on the smash hit "Gotta Be Heard", Written with T-Head and performed by the duo, Gotta Be Heard was just the beginning for JohnnyRay's new found adventure.
Over the years Johnny mastered the art of chanting and layered smooth vocals and began writing a type of Dancehall/Pop style he could name his own. His vivid imagination and positive energy allowed JohnnyRay to create songs with other artists such as Larry-H, Ry'Mes, Fat Kat, Shugaree as well as many international club remixes and exclusive mixtape creations for many world known Dj's.
JohnnyRay has proven to himself and the industry that he has the ability to challenge the urban music scene of today either in the studio or on the stage, Johnny has had the opportunity to perform with many talented artist over time including: A.B.S, Pinky Smith, Ja Qwez, LDP, Jazmine, Sheist, Nina Sky and more...
In 2006 Johnny became a partner with SlimmJimm owner of Indie label Dustbin Records and helped establish their new major brand DBJR Music Group. Johnny is Set to release his long awaited album "The Crossings" in summer of 2007, Its time for this dynamic entertainer to deliver from his infusing pop melodies to new dancehall/ragga production this album is sure to touch fans and critics of all ages.
From songs like the first single "Big Up In Da Club" (Featuring Shugaree) exemplify JohnnyRay's nuanced layered vocals and new pop/dancehall sound. To tracks like "Runnin for my life" (Featuring Larry-H) which is a pure roots/reggae dub which reveals his voice to be clean and almost elated while still keeping it traditional with a touch of blues. But true to his charismatic character the album shows many sides of JohnnyRay and not only does it host his lyrical talents and new aged production style, but also helps him touch the audience with a bit of his own personal influences
