Shearing Pinx - Haruspex 7" - Pre Order Now

About Me

Shearing Pinx - Haruspex EP 7"
Vancouver’s Shearing Pinx have been on fire lately, releasing one tripped out slab of no-wave goodness after another. This latest offering pushes onward with some of their most doped up freak-outs and weirdo jams. Until recently, the Pinx saved their wildest material for tapes, CDRs and the road, but as proved on their recent split with the Mutators, they can let loose on wax too. Haruspex is the next open door. Artwork by Nicholas MacMillian and Aja Robb. Limited to 500 (first 50 special screenprint - black & gold - sold out).

Crowd Control 01 (98 Copies)
Sounds - Lindsay Dobbin (Halifax, Canada)
Visuals - Tanya Busse (Berlin, Germany)
In the sound and art collaboration, Making Space for Miracles and Other Things Too, artists Tanya Busse and Lindsay Dobbin create open spaces, allowing forms to emerge and shape-shift in the liminal phases of multiple dimensions — the spiritual, the linguistic and the mundane reality of living and working creatively thousands of miles apart. Through patience and sensual awareness, Lindsay unlocked magical doors full of healing power on the shores of a small Nova Scotian village. Her sonic exploration reveals the variable movements of salt air, and how it can often heal all wounds. Tanya has created a physical space from the humblest materials of light and a Xerox machine. Here the printed matter rolls through a visual spectrum of optical phenomena, only to return home at the end of its journey in unpredictable form.
About the Artists
Lindsay Dobbin is an artist whose practice includes spirituality, experimental audio, music and writing. Often using recording, radio, and live performance as mediums, her quiet and temporal soundscapes explore nature’s creativity through subtle movements and earth bound motions of grace.
Tanya Busse is an artist currently based in Berlin, Germany. Her practice employs a wide range of media, including installation, photography, video and sculpture, to explore the mechanics and mysteries of perception.

Vennt EP CD
"If you're already hep to the doomed noise of Canada's Torso, then this should be of enormous interest to you, seeing as how it's centered around Torso mainman Sandy Saunders. Joined by Jordan Hines on bass and Darcy Spidle on drums, he takes his scary passion for noise-heavy power electronics one step beyond, adding histronic vocals to the mix as the rhythm section plods along like dinosaurs defoilating a major forest. Imagine early Swans / early Godflesh with way more noise and equal parts doom and black metal, and you have an inkling of the sonic tar pit at work here. The four longish tracks on this EP are all grim, frightening excursions into hellish subterranean horror laced with evil ambient noise and hideous shrieking, made even more immense by a dark, downtuned bass sound that wouldn't be out of place on an Unsane record. It's the combination of styles that makes this so fresh-sounding (and unsettling); the closest I've heard anyone come to this distinct sound is Sword Heaven, and even then this is much darker, much closer to black metal than noise, without ever really becoming truly one style or another. Harsh, brutal, uncompromising, and bleak are all good key words here. Scary, scary stuff that's highly recommended to those in search of the ultimate in feel-bad music." Dead Angel - November '07

Be Bad - Vision Correction Full -Length CD
After two years, several tours and a slew of short run, non-standard format releases, Divorce is proud to bring you Be Bad's first full-length album. 'Vision Correction' is a pounding guitar record that guides the listener through heady realms. Encased in a monstrous drum trip that at times expands to three kits, Be Bad explore elements of noise, post-punk, no-wave, and free jazz. The crass and howling vocals evoke punk poet Henry Rollins and dope poet Nick Cave - mean, psychedelic, and cerebral. Musical influences on this album range from Black Flag and MC5 to Sun Ra and The Boredoms, but Be Bad do not pay homage, they contribute. Recorded by J. Lapointe. Mastered by Seth Smith. Amazing metallic silver and black pantone spot colour design by Nicholas MacMillan.

Unicorn is the solo work of American noise veteran Bill Nelson (Bastard Noise, Sleestak). Torso is the blistering noise of Halifax's Sandy Saunders. This 70 + minute split explores minimal drone, deafening power, and all the spaces inbetween. The cover design and custom printing is by Bill's Thumbprint press.
