The Abusive Stepdads were formed in 2006 by members James and Phil when member James was discharged from Mental Health care.
Both children were born directly in Muggah Creek in 1987 and raised on polluted Sobeys leftovers.
On a grey and gloomy typical Sydney afternoon, the first Abusive Stepdads were recorded onto cassette tapes that were found on the side of the street in a dirt encrusted
plastic bag. The concept of "The Abusive Stepdads" was a product of overprescribed antipsychotic medication and the intoxicating effects. The first song written
dealed with politically incorrect lyrics and subject matter, a song written from the prospectic of a drunken and sexually abusive Catholic stepfather.
The first demo released was in 2008, containing material from the prior 3 years, so songs range from fast, slow, sloppy, noisy and chaotic. A sound unlike
no other local bands from Cape Breton have ever achieved (and likely wouldn't want to).
