****Check Out The New Song... "I Never Had"!!! Very Mellow & Catchy!! ****
Renny J is actually Reunald C. P. Jones III, one of the premier accomplished bass players of recent years. Rennys grandfather & father (Reunald Sr. & Jr. respectively) were well known & accomplished trumpet players. Reunald Sr. (Jonesy) was one of the "Jones Boys", a group alongside Quincy Jones, and played with Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Buddy Guy (who he spoke of often) & Nat King Cole.
Reunald Jr. (Bo) also played w/ Quincy Jones, as well as with James Brown, Sammy Davis Jr., The 5th Dimension, Diana Ross, Micheal Jackson, Motown & other well-known artists. You can hear his trumpet playing every time you hear the theme songs to the television shows "Sanford & Son" and "Ironside", as well as Chaka Khan & Rufus' song, "At Midnight". They both have passed away, but their legacy lives on through Renny J. Because of Rennys unique playing style, he has recorded w/ Parliament, Donna Summer & Toni Braxton, as well as a host of other artists. Renny's cousin, Melanie Rutherford, who is like a little sister to him, is a recording artist in her own right and one of the most dynamic up and coming singers to date! (also check her out at "www.myspace.com/melanierutherford")
Renny was raised in the Williamsburg/Bed Stuy section of Brooklyn, NY (Lindsay Park baby!), where he grew up looking for something different in life. Never having tried smoking, drinking or drugs, Renny eventually moved to California to pursue his musical aspirations. Renny subsequently learned to play drums, keyboard & guitar to accompany his bass palying skills. After the record company he played with went out of business, Renny went to Paramedic school where he subsequently worked in this field for about 5 years, and then on to work in the field of radiology. Afterwards, he eventually returned to and finished college with an AA degree in Administration of Justice.
Renny continued on with his dream to record music and subsequently through years of writing & playing, and with the assistance of world class producer, Dave Waterbury, and his closest friend, Guitarist Tony Chauncey (of w/ Sly & the Family Stone), eventually recorded his debut CD, "Lindsay Park Presents...". Renny is currently working and collaberating on a Music Project with his boy, Jason "Kursewerd" Varner (formerly Art Writaz), who is a Pittsburgh based producer since late 2001/2002; Jason incorporates lots of styles into his production; emotional pieces, club/dirty south beats, underground and mainstream vibes alike, just to name some. He primarily produces with Blackburg Records/ Jams Avenue, Diamond-Light Ent. Group, War Room Studios and Wishmasta Entertainment. Check him out @ "www.myspace.com/kursewerd". Jason is quickly moving up to be the next Top Producer!. Hopefully you'll get the opportunity to enjoy the diversified musical taste on this next CD. If you like it, feel free to ask for a copy and one will be sent right to you! This next CD, "Just Play!", will be available in 2007. You can hear some of the new songs on the "My Space" player. Give them a listen and feel free to leave a comment if you like them. Take care & God bless.
