About Me

It's seems so long ago...wow! A shameless self promotion for a guy born in the mid 60's (I still get teased from time to time for memories of others who remember me singin' along to 8-tracks of "The Box Tops" as a baby...pictures of footy-pijamas and Colt 45 tall cans...ha ha). Born in Hollywood, CA...growin' up in Huntington Beach...now I'm typin' this in "The Valley" (NoHo for you arty types). I started playin' snares in 5th grade. Gave it up in high school for a blood-stained imitation strat (a funny thing happened to my friend at a lip-sync competition...). Started a band called "The Strand" with current "If" singer Jhon Frazier when we met during high school (Jhon is a huge Roxy Music fan). We played mostly covers of some really silly stuff (old Tubeway Army, Adam & the Ants, and other crap that I can no longer remember). Used the ol' "tape over tape" method to record demos. I soon bought my first 4-track recorder. Now the crap sounded alot better. After several one-off projects and failed auditions (some things never change), joined "Guts On The Floor" with guitarist extraordinaire, and still bandmate/great friend Dave Rhine. Dave later formed "Stone 588" with Ipso Facto owner Terri Kennedy. I would meet up with Wes Smith and the late Rich Fierro (aka Rev. Andy Warthog) to form "The Lesser Gods"(see Wes Smith's "Lesser Gods" page on MySpace for all the latest info). After The Lesser Gods, I then joined up with Dave and Terri to play bass for Stone 588. After releasing the casette "Eden Lost", plus a few tracks on the "Door in the Dragon's Throat" CD, I then took a rather long sabbatical from music. Aside from a few acoustic performances with an assortment of artists/poets, and other lunatics, there wasn't alot happening for me for several years. In 2000, I decided to start recording various instrumental demos with Dave Rhine. This went on/off for a year or two. Debra Benham then answered an ad for a singer that we ran. She was able to write lyrics for the recent tunes Dave and I recorded. We started as "Ether Eel" for a clump of shows, but decided to change the name to "Realistic Love Openings". After a slew of recordings, and even a couple of shows with Monochrome Set/Scarlet's Well singer Bid, "R.L.O." is still recording and may play some gigs soon... Next project was playing bass for another great guitarist by the name of Joe Walla. Joe is a flashy, outspoken yet always gracious rocker. This was probably the most conventional rock project I've been associated with. Although I was never really in a comfort zone in this band, Joe was always more than patient with me. He is defininately worth a listen, and is currently playing with a great backing band. I'm currently playing bass for "Panic Movement" here in L.A. We'll be in the studio in July 2007, and recent demos are available on this site. With gigs coming up, look for show times in a dive near you.....ha haPeace Love HeavenTony S.
