About Me

Detached self-absorption and subdued theatrics in the age of mechanical reproduction.

Ill tell you this...
No eternal reward will forgive us now
For wasting the dawn.
Let me tell you about heartache and the loss of god
Wandering, wandering in hopeless night
Out here in the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned
Immaculate.

My Interests

rocking out. bending guitar strings. grand pianos. glockenspiels. collecting vinyl records. live shows. NPR. missing peet's coffee. sipping espresso. microbrews. being a vegetarian and getting crap from my friends for it. amnesty international. art of less war. stomping on pedals. tweaking knobs on pedals. diesel sweeties. questionable content. cat and girl comics. intense conversations. comfortable silence. geeky endeavors. anticon collective. mcsweeney's. rad books. arthouse and foreign films. found sounds. noisemakers. art museums. watching roller derby. sarcasm. girls with tattoos. bitching about work. silent treatment when pissed. disappearing on people. finishing "the studio". amusing the cat. falling in love. falling out of love. saving the world.

I'd like to meet:

at their best, there is gentleness in Humanity.
some understanding and, at times, acts of
courage
but all in all it is a mass, a glob that doesn’t
have too much.
it is like a large animal deep in sleep and
almost nothing can awaken it.
when activated it’s best at brutality,
selfishness, unjust judgments, murder.

what can we do with it, this Humanity?

nothing.

avoid the thing as much as possible.
treat it as you would anything poisonous, vicious
and mindless.
but be careful. it has enacted laws to protect
itself from you.
it can kill you without cause.
and to escape it you must be subtle.
few escape.

it’s up to you to figure a plan.

I have met nobody who has escaped.

I have met some of the great and
famous but they have not escaped
for they are only great and famous within
Humanity.

I have not escaped
but I have not failed in trying again and
again.

before my death I hope to obtain my
life.

My Blog

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

I figured it's time for a blog update. So what have I been up to? Mostly, I've been busy trying to avoid falling in love and failing miserably at it. So, I apologise to my dear friends who I...

From the Republic of Conscience

Rummaging through the myriad boxes I haven't opened in a million years, I found old photographs, love letters, trinkets, and this poem. It was framed in the lobby of the Amnesty International hea...

Top 31 records - MMVII edition (first cut)

To continue the post-Thanksgiving and pre-Pitchfork-top-10-list tradition, here's my first shot at my top records of the year. Let me say that a year where Thurston Moore and Radiohead ...
