eyes see red was founded in 1996 with the addition of guitarist Mathias to the duo of Christian and Mike, who had previously played in the Hardcore band Last Warning. Just around the time Mathias joined, Christian and Mike recorded a demotape with Mike handling all instruments. Three years of smelly basement shows followed, and eyes see red co-founded the ELKS Syndicate with fellow local bands Lost Chapter, Knowhere and Slaine in an effort to join forces because at the time, it was nearly impossible for extreme Metal bands in Switzerland to get shows.
The second release “Embrace It†followed in 1999, this time on CD. The Death Metal underground now in full bloom, the band spent the following years playing as many shows as possible and opening up for such acts as Beheaded, Mistress and No Return as well as an appearance at the 2002 Metal Dayz festival in Pratteln. Some â€Embrace It†tracks appeared on compilations, but the shows kept the trio so busy that they didn’t have time to release any more recorded music until their split 7" with Tiburón in 2003.
Recordings for the new album began in late 2002, but having to fit the recording schedules around their dayjobs, it took the band over a year to get everything recorded, and technical difficulties during mixing and mastering led to further delays. Now, just a little over five years after the release of “Embrace Itâ€, the new album “Beyond the Realm of Sanity†is finally out, taking the band’s complex, yet catchy approach to Death Metal to the next level.
