About Me

Brief history
In 2005, Chris Phanos (Vocals/2nd Guitar) began experimenting with Jordan Freshney (Drums) through a school music class and eventually found their feet as a band by casually playing cover songs and performing at school gradually making progress and going through different members. As the pair became serious and sought an experienced bassist, it was by chance they met Nick Grant (Bass) online who then joined in August 2006 rehearsing under the name Execrator.
After a few line up changes, the motivated band now known as Kathexus, remained a 3 piece and recorded their first and only demo in March 2007 consisting of 4 songs. Practising regularly and constantly working on original material, the soloist they had been seeking for almost a year was finally found in July 2007, Jason Sekay (Lead Guitar). The lineup was now complete, together forming a Thrash/Heavy Metal band with significant melodic and progressive influences.
In September 2007, long time member Jordan Freshney parted with the band for personal reasons and so the talented Brody Green (Drums) was quickly recruited to support Kathexus by performing live and to record if necessary. Due to Brody's previously known commitments with other bands, he could not practise as a full time member so band rehearsal is not taken for granted and is always appreciated. At that time, Kathexus applied for a project development grant funded by S.A.Y.A.B in order to record a professional demo consisting of 8 songs of 33 minutes length. By December, it was confirmed the grant was approved and the band entered the studio in February 2008. All tracking and mixing is now complete and the songs are waiting to be mastered, once everything is printed a CD launch will be organized but the band still hunts for gigs.
What our name means:
In Greek, Kathexis (holding & retention) is derived from Katekhein (to hold fast) which is derived from Catakhein (to hold) of European roots. In English, Cathexis is now defined as "Concentration of emotional energy on an object or idea." and we edited it to form an original and meaningful name.
Please Note: We are more than happy for bands to promote their gigs with banners on our comments page but once the gig's date has passed, they'll be deleted to keep it looking organized. Thankyou & thanks for visiting our Myspace!
