Eyes Of Fire prove that extreme music can be subtle, intelligent, and even romantic at times, and still kick the metal up your ass.

There is just something about the way the band grinds away and ultimately smothers with its music, producing a constant feeling of anxiety, yet still hooking you with expertly written melodies. The overall intensity of "Prisons" makes it an album that works better when it is consumed whole. A song-by-song sampling only leaves you uneasy and wanting. The investment of time pays off handsomely. Once the EYES OF FIRE addiction takes hold, kicking the habit becomes a near impossibility.

It's the first disc set for release in 2006 that I've heard, and it's hard to imagine much topping this. After first listen I was just laying on my floor, letting it sink in. That doesn't happen often with metal discs. A stunning piece of work, one which hopefully gets these guys the attention their debut should have.

Every once in a while, a record will come along that knocks you smack the hell out of your humdrum doldrums, your blahness and your routines. Such a record often forces you to open your mind and listen intently, because what you are hearing is not normal, it's intense, it's gorgeus, even stunning. To keep it all short and sweet folks, PRISONS is that record. Get this now or forever consider yourself retarded.

Prisons will be the first disc of 2006 to melt yer mind, and I dunno what the hell is gonna compete with this. With Eyes of Fire's mix of melody and apocalyptic abrasion and the build-up, the journey then climax its music contains, most metal bands should be shaking in their booties at the thought of releasing an album after this one.

CHORD Magazine 2006
Its important to note that this is not Isis. This is not Neurosis. This is not Mastodon. This is Eyes of Fire. Give credit where credit is due. Chunky, melodically depressing and brutal riffs, a unique vocal approach, deceivingly simple but powerful lyrics, and the ability to take all of those elements and crush them into one hell of an enticing CD thats chock full of hooks defines this group in a way that merits notice without comparison. I will return time and time again to Prisons this year, and years to come, and not only when I am feeling like the ten year old whose mom always forgets to pick him up after baseball practice or the door-to-door salesman with a fading red tie and a fake smile who cant seem to get anyone to talk to him for more than ten seconds. This album is so brutal and yet so beautiful that it could appeal to almost anybody, from the extreme to the progressive metal fan. Its still very early, but the fact that I am almost guaranteeing that this will end up in my top 5 for 06 should tell you how impressed I was by this very promising group of southern Californians.

The big question is: what can this band possible do to get any better? They have already released two of the most solid and original pieces of music I have heard in the past year or so. Well, if they can top this one, then they have reserved a permanent place on my all time top ten bands.

Stereokiller
Sheer intensity and emotion through crushing moderately paced chord progressions and lush clean passages, never shedding the emphasis on rhythm and percussion. The vocals range from forceful low shouts to excellent singing complete with vocal harmonies. Heavy effects saturate the guitars at times, creating various layers of textures that swirl about, and on rare occasion the very subtle use of samples will drift into the background.
