I'm a member of manchesters virus syndicate i've been spitting (no i don't hold spiting contests to see who's goz can go the furthest-i mean writing ryhmes and for want of a better word "rapping/mcing") for about 10 years. First started over DnB then progressed onto garage and hip hop spitting in CBD one of the first groups to be formed in the manchester garage (no Dad not OUR garage thats the type of music!!) scene, and northern monkees putting out hip hop records on estate recordings manchesters biggest (AND BADDEST) hip hop label ran by broke n english (BRAPATAPTAP). hooked up with virus syndicate about 3 years or so ago and have been working hard on that for the past couple of years while also putting out the odd tune on my own i.e the nextmen produced "average joe" or on Big Wes's lp entitled "mossside" on the tune "war" and "Bad Habbits" with northern monkees on the estate agents ep( big up strat, drs and konny), and the city is ours mixtape tracks "what up manc-stas" over 50 cent "what up gangster" and also "welcome 2 manchester" over damien marley's "welcome 2 jamrock" which has recieved big airplay by the like's of semtex to name just one , but virus
has been my focus point for a while and im heavly influenced by the rest of the group. We've been touring europe for the last year including date's in spain (barcelona and zarragosa for sonar and electr festivals), denmark( roskilde festival), polland(??), belgium(nuite blanc, 10 days off), france,check republic (prauge) , germany also uk shows at places like fabric, glade, glastonbury, ministry of sound, cargo, the end arena, manchester acadamy etc.... promoting "the work related illness" lp which is out in all good record stores worldwide. right now we've finished our 2nd lp which is due for relese late 2006/early 07 but the first lp has recently had a re-work and will be rereleased featuring trim, jammer, ears, BIG FALS(FALLACY) eL and POET SHADO with 4 new tracks and 3 video's all showing across europe via mtv. I produce tracks aswell and have got a couple of things in store for them ( WATCH OUT 4 THE MANC-UNION) and i also dj mainly D n B and Grime but hip hop aswell but just as a hobby i dont take myself too seriouly on the dj front.On a more personal level i work as a learning mentor for city collage manchester with 14-16 yr old young adults of which some have been kicked out of school and attend specialist schools or connexions programmes, but the majority have been allowed to drop one of there G.C.S.E'S (the exams we work towards at high school level here in the U.K.) and take a vocational course i.e. Music tech, drama, childcare, Photography, floristry, Hair and beauty..... the list goes on and on!! I really enjoy my work and have alot of time for the students, i remeber being there age and what a pain in the arse i was ha ha..... so i feel i relate to them in a way others may not be able to!! So big big shout to all my collage students.... you know who you are, and oi you better not be reading this in collage time ha ha!!!Also i have recently discovered that i have a passion for literature and absolutely LOVE reading books (if you would have said that to me a year or so ago i would have laughed my head off and thought you were mad as a hatter....... funny how things change in time isnt it!!). Like i said i've only recently found this out so there are so so many books i havnt read or dont know about which are probably essensial (if you have any suggestions please please dont hesitate to msg/comment me and recomment them!!). So far books that i have read which have stuck in my mind are PIMP by Iceberg slim, Redemption by Stanley "tookie" Williams, Stupid white men by Michel moore, Gang wars by Peter walsh, A boy called it by.....errm not sure of the author off hand but i'll re-check, UGLY by Constance Briscoe, A Piece Of Cake By Cupcake Brown..... there are a few more also!! I'm also hoping to study sign language next year which is something im really interested in and am determined to do and possibly english literature but we'll see ey' who knows what the future holds!
