BIOIn 2005, Valerian Swing was formed unknowingly, and perhaps even unwillingly, as an instrumental trio in the humble little village of Correggio by Stefano Villani, Davìd Ferretti and Alan Ferioli. Not even a year later, with the inclusion of Johnatan and Davide on vocals and potentially more, the now non-trio recorded an EP of four tracks at Fear Studio in Ravenna.Thanks to excellent reviews and explosive live shows, Valerian Swing, an "under twenty" band, has been playing around northern Italy and sharing the stage with established Italian underground groups. Now, thanks to the EP and is rather risky tones, there is a new opportunity on their horizon: to work with Alkemist-Fanatix Europe, a management company run by Carlo Bellotti (of gf93). Bellotti's support has also been fundamental in reaching an agreement with RisingWorks for the production of Valerian Swing's first-time full-length release.However, problems arose when the two vocalists were not available and the group returned to being a trio right at the very moment they were writing the songs for the new release. The eight musical pieces, which range from free and crazy jazz to wildly undisciplined mathcore, passing through indie, prog, pop, hard-core and much more, have now been sensitively and successfully interpreted by Raffaele Marchetti (of Cattu's Turnover), who in only three months has entered into a perfect symbiosis with Valerian Swing's paranoiac instrumentals during the creation their second release "Draining Planning for Ears Reflectors".In late 2007, the group entered Zenith Studio in Lucca and worked with the very eclectic Frank Andiver (who produced Labyrinth, Atman, Osian, etc.), who intelligently understood the artistic goals of their apparently-chaotic, highly-composed music. The result is a well-balanced union of four distinct, contrasting and very original musicians.Valerian Swing's arrogant rhythm section totally avoids 4/4 rhythm and adores playing parts of boat and rubber saxophones. Its bassist hates the bass but plays the bass very well to his chagrin. Its guitars are played extremely psychedelically and vacillate between sounding stoned and meticulously orchestrated. Its voice starts out as pop and then crescendos until it reaches beyond the beyond. The only thing left to do is listen carefully.

Nemmeno un anno dopo e probabilmente grazie all’avvento di Johnatan e Davide, voci, e potenzialmente oltre(…..), il trio ormai non più trio si trova a registrare un EP composto da tracce n° 4 al FEAR Studio di Ravenna;
non ancora vent’anni, i Valerian Swing grazie a ottime recensioni ed esplosive esibizioni live si ritrovano a suonare in giro per il nord Italia condividendo il palco con alcune delle realtà più importanti dell’underground italiano.
Nuova prospettiva che si spalanca, proprio grazie all’EP dai colori piuttosto azzardati, è la collaborazione con Alkemist-Fanatix Europe, managment gestito da Carlo Bellotti(gf93);
ed è proprio l’aiuto di quest’ultimo che si rivelerà determinante nel trovare l’accordo con RisingWorks per la produzione del loro primo Full-Lenght.
I problemi sorgono quando entrambe le voci si costringono ad abbandonare quello che nuovamente torna ad essere un trio, proprio durante la stesura di quei brani che avrebbero composto l’Album.
Le 8 digressioni musicali ,spazianti dal jazz più free ed estroso, ad un mathcore dai toni esasperatamente sgangherati, attraversate da lampi contaminati da indie, prog, pop, hard-core e altro ancora, troveranno in Raffaele Marchetti un eccellente interprete,
abile in soli 3 mesi a calarsi tra quelle paranoie strumentali che orchestreranno poi DRAINING PLANNING FOR EARS REFLECTORS;
è il 2007 inoltrato quando i V.S. ,accolti allo ZENITH Studio di Lucca, si trovano a lavorare con Frank Andiver (Labirynth,Atman,Osian..),
produttore rivelatosi quanto mai eclettico e capace di comprendere intelligentemente le finalità artistiche di un disco coscienziosamente ispirato.
Si riflette..un operato dalle fortissime personalità ben coese ma spesso agli antipodi per concezioni,..
Una sezione ritmica spocchiosa,addolorata dal 4/4,smaniosa di suonare barche e sassofoni di gomma;
un basso che schifa il basso ma che suona il basso con umori a dir poco alterni,
le chitarre,suonate:1. Maledettamente psichedeliche,tanto drogate quanto scarnefredde e meticolose,
voce a tratti GEORGE,comunque suscettibile,tal’ora stracciando postulati.
Ciò che rimane è forse l’accurato ascolto…--------------------------------------------------
