Hey Marmaduke

Heavy Soul and Psych Blues-Rock

About Me

Hey Marmaduke are a 5 piece rock n soul band from Vancouver Island. Melding southern blues with heavy rock 'n' soul, Hey Marmaduke offer a hard hitting, dancefloor groove which has taken audiences by storm. Having completely sold out of the debut EP in 4 months and with almost 1000 copies of the the 6 track follow up '4' sold in the last 5 months, Hey Marmaduke are breaking out to wider North American audience.
The band are back in the studio recording in Mar 2008 to record the new LP, due for Canadian release in Summer 2008 (RockSoul Music 004). The new material has already received considerable attention from media in the UK, US and Canada. It will also mark the debut vinyl release for Hey Marmaduke for RockSoul Records.
Amber, Paul and Benji hail from the UK where the influences of bands like James Gang, Birtha, Dr John, Brian Auger Julie Driscoll and the Trinity, Cream, Canned Heat and Deep Purple drew them together as a group. Having performed together for 6 years they moved to Vancouver Island looking to consolidate their sound. Mark was recruited as bassman and with him bought an enthusiasm and freshness that helped to fully ignite the sound of the band. Most recent addition, Jackie-Boy Weyler, now adds hammond, piano and rhodes to create a smooth texture not unlike moist wood pulp.
Amber's powerful and soulful vocals have drawn comparisons to Janice Joplin, Grace Slick and Julie Driscoll while the band move like a cross breed of Cream, James Gang and and early ZZ Top.
We hope to see you soon. HM.
