I'm into politics, comic books, writing, teaching, learning, discussing how to change the world, Thai and Indian food, home repairs, obnoxious music, my partner Skadi, and my cat Akira.

Straight edge kids from around the world. People interested in making the world a more just and sustainable place. People committed to be creative and staving off mediocrity.Oh, and Yoda. (Duh.)

Music:

the sword, katatonia, black sabbath, stretch arm strong, trial, fugazi, cave in, slayer, dido, boy sets fire, bane, downcast, insted, sage francis, rise against, pelican, the mutiny, and so much more. Old school style hardcore is still my favorite, but I'm currently experimenting with metal like Dimmu Borgir and Opeth.

Television:

If I'm at someone's house who has cable, I would watch: Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Entourage, Adult Swim. As it is, I watch News Hour and Frontline on PBS, Meet the Press, and not much else.

Books:

Lately: Issac Assimov's Foundation series. Neil Stephenson's "Cryptonomicon." "The Trouble With Islam" by Irshad Manji. "Tempting Faith: An Inside Story of Political Seduction" by David Kuo.

Heroes:

my mom. students who work hard and embrace learning. creative people. women who carve out their own space in the hardcore, punk, and straight edge scenes.
