About Me

Best way to get to know me is to read my blog. You'll find all you need to know there. I am eclectic and complicated, abstract and practical; down to earth with my head in the clouds and a knowing smile on my face; literal and lateral. A walking contradiction. How funny, I'm in my own extended network. Ever get the feeling you're standing outside yourself? Oh yeah, my name means 'Butterfly'.

My Interests

Ok, I finally wrote a list... but the problem is that I had to stop writing at some point. As I said before, I'm interested in many things, all except things I'm not interested in...planting things and watching them grow
reading, reading, reading
music, music, music
my poosycats
scoffing at the television
swimming naked
etymology
travelling
the absurd and the ridiculous
tarot
long boozy lunches
architecture
photography
falling asleep on the couch
linguistics
furry things
seafood
eccentric people
writing
retail therapy
snorkelling
irony
taste sensations
politics
dancing (or the politics of..)
staying up late
watching sport
experiences
trying new things

I'd like to meet:

Try me...

Music:

I have over 3700 songs on my iPod (which I never use). Would you like me to list them?
I like music that I like... and I like it a lot.

Movies:

Indie films.
Foreign language films.
Old films.
Films that make me laugh.
Films that don't try to manipulate me with soppy music.
Films that make me want to discuss them for days after.
That said, I also like formulaic chick flicks and watching things blow up.
I'm an ex-film critic.

Television:

I like good shows.
I don't like crappy shows.
I also like shows that are so crappy, they're good.
I'm especially partial to food porn and bitching at reality shows.

Books:

Anything that grabs my attention and generally books I can learn something from, fiction or non-fiction. Mostly non-fiction. I always have a book on the go. Usually just one at a time, 'coz that's how I roll... but I read. The author and subject matter can vary like the stupidly awry weather in Perth.

Heroes:

People are people...Sometimes they do extraordinary things...Sometimes they don't...
