HERE'S WHAT SOME VERY NICE PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT SEAN'S NEW CD TWO AMP SONGS:
"So many forgettable CD's come across my desk every week – Sean Lee is a SONGWRITER. Sean is a performer. This a guy who is truly on his way to worldwide acclaim." KEN DASHOW Q-104FM NYC
"Great songs, great hooks, it hasn’t left my CD player since I got it." ANTHONY MICHAELS WLNK-FM
"Sean Lee has not only a great voice, but a range that eclectically mixes a drawly bass with a higher, more alternative and rock-influenced register...any one of the album’s songs could easily be played on the radio for their soft vocal lines and feel-good pop rhythms" HOTINDIENEWS.com
"Very lovely pop songs with an always well balanced melody, composed with irreproachable timing...a very pleasant first album for all those who enjoy the powepop of the 90's" WALKED IN LINE (France)
"One could easily lose track of time listening to this album, because it has the knack of reeling the listener in for an aural experience from the first song to the last." THE MUSIC VAULT
"From New York, New York comes Sean Lee, a pop/rock singer/songwriter who takes some major cues from Counting Crows, Barenaked Ladies, and Everclear. If you liked the twangy, positive rock music of the mid to late 90s, then Lee is your man. As the album's main single, 'Gracefully,’ can attest to, he knows his way around a professional-sounding pop hook."" INDIEVILLE.COM
Born in New York City, Sean Lee comes from a musical family. His father, Jon Lee, was in the original production of Flower Drum Song on Broadway and performed in the showrooms of Las Vegas along side such stars as Elvis Presley and Don Rickles. Sean's own musical career started at the age of 12 with the purchase of a set of drums from an East Side pawnshop. When it came time for college, Sean headed to the music-rich city of Memphis, TN.
While drumming and singing with the popular Memphis alternative band THE SUBTEENS , Sean was able to get his music heard. Rescue Me, Sean's first song to get airplay on radio, was recorded at Memphis' Ardent Studios and produced by Matt Martone (3 Doors Down, Sister Hazel)
Returning to New York to pursue a solo career Sean banished his drums and began playing guitar in clubs throughout New York and the northeast. In the summer of 2000 Sean released the EP Stop Gap, a mixture of studio tracks and live performances.
In Late 2001 Sean entered Excello Studios (Fred Scheneider of the B52s and Richard Hell) to record his follow-up CD The Earth is Hollow. Working with Leo Overtoom and East Village music legend Tom Clark (Lenny Kaye from the Patti Smith Group, Kevn Kinney), Sean created The Earth Is Hollow which NY Rock said had a "clean minimalist sound ... (and) a refreshing twang about it".
Sean is pleased to announce the release of his new album Two Amp Songs. Sean, Leo Overtoom (Ben Folds sound designer and East Village producer and engineer) and Saul Kessler have been carefully crafting this album for your listening pleasure. This powerpop delight is Sean's first full-length album. Two Amp Songs is available at CDBABY and can also be purchased at iTunes and Digstation.com.
