Damian Wilson starting his love affair with house music back in the late eighties when he was listening to pirate stations and experiencing the underground house scene around London. Whilst dragging numerous friends around the Soho record shops during lunch hours he developed a passion for the music that he still loves and strives to keep alive. After spending 8 years producing the most listened to dance music programme on radio - Pete Tong’s Essential Selection on BBC Radio 1 - Damian is now at Cr2 Records in their A&R department - a job he's always wanted to do.
Damian has also found his way into the studio (at long last) and produced his first track ‘Take Me Away’ which has had plays from Pete Tong and Judge Jules on Radio 1, Andi Durrant and Sarah Main on Galaxy, Huey on Juice FM, Mark Wilkinson on Ministry Of Sound and Mark from Peppermint Jam on Unknown FM. The single will be forthcoming on Cr2 Records later in the summer!
During the early 90's Damian cut his teeth on a daily basis for 3 years at Jodys Flat and various other clubs in Lindos on the island of Rhodes in Greece. This is where he learnt the valuable lesson of making sure the crowd heard what they wanted to hear without comprising what he liked as a DJ himself.
When returning back to the UK Damian found his way into working with the likes of Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Seb Fontaine, Mary Anne Hobbs, Dave Pearce and Fergie on Radio 1 plus Boy George for the Galaxy network.
It was in 2001 when Seb Fontaine personally invited Damian to be resident at his new night 'Type' at The Cross in London. Since then he’s been rocking the middle room with his energetic style and warming up for the likes of Norman Cook, Seamus Haji and Jon Carter to name but a few. From there he’s played for David Morales at Pacha London, DJ Sneak at The End, Tom Stephan at Turnmills and with regular gig’s at Kidology, Pure at the Ministy Of Sound and many more. He’s even been able to play at some of the best parties around the world including Nikki Beach and Ultra Festival in Miami and Amnesia and Eden and the world famous Pacha Ibiza turntables.
During he time producing Pete Tong’s Essential Selection Damian was instrumental in the show’s development and was every day still looking out for the right CD, download or when they come through piece of vinyl to play on the show, which is he ethos for his job at the present - bring the best dance music to Cr2 Records. But it’s his love for playing those records to a crowd that keeps his love of house alive and whenever he’s rocking the clubs he’s always making sure that the best music is the only thing they dance too!
