About Me

Luke’s DJ sets cover a broad range of styles and he is, more than most Dj’s, able to play to all tastes. Having made his name as a leading house and trance DJ…he now… after spending the last 2 years on a beach in Australia playing house music to sunsets at his own beachside restaurant and bar…plays a mixture of sexy disco house and twisted funk and is a resident dj for Hed Kandi across the world and also Pacha in London.
Working in a bar in his hometown Perth, Australia, Luke was influenced by a mix tape played by one of the UK bar staff who recorded a dj set from Danny Rampling in the heady days of Shoom. It turned him on to the UK sound that was coming through the back end of ’89 and he proceeded to go to the UK influenced clubs every week. It really blew his mind and he started reading UK mags such as the Face & Mixmag and buying albums such as Soul To Soul and ‘Paradise’ by Inner City. He found though that he needed more of what was coming out of the UK so headed out in early ’91 for an extended holiday with London the first destination….15 years on and he is still here!
When he arrived he trod the path of the usual travelling Aussie. He also looked into checking out Danny Rampling who was then doing a night called Pure Sexy on a Wednesday at Nicky Holloways Milk Bar. With a queue a mile long, he was just about to jump on the night bus home when Jenni Rampling pulled him out of the queue and pushed him inside. He never looked back from that moment & met some life changing people that influence his life and made it what is is today.
After that night he basically fell into being a dj. From playing a few records at a mates house he was approached by a manager of a new club opening up and asked if he would like to play a warm up on the opening night. That club turned out to be The Cross and the main dj was Danny Rampling…freaky huh! From there he went on the be resident for the next 10 years before his sabbatical Down Under. During that time at The Cross he played regularly for promoters as diverse as Renaissance, Clockwork Orange, Type and also held residencies for Glitteratti and Serious.
From his Glitteratti residencey he met Seb Fontaine who with Craig Richards set up the notoriously famous Malibu Stacey at Hanover Grand and Luke was invited to be the Resident alongside Seb. This led to numerous guest spots around the country at all the top clubs including Cream, Gatecrasher, Gods Kitchen, Passion, Lush, Golden, Slinky, Colours and many many more.
It also included sets across the world including Ibiza, Italy, Australia, Germany, France, Majorca, Israel, Russia, Hong Kong, Dubai, Switzerland, Egypt, Norway and so on.
During his time as a dj he has also been granted the Honour of an Essential Mix on Radio 1 and has been a regular at Radio 1 events in both Ibiza and festivals such as Homelands and Creamfields. In addition to these Radio 1 festivals, he has also played at V, Glastonbury, Global Gathering and Coloursfest to name a few.
Luke was also Head of Manifesto records and working with Eddie Gordon who intitially set the label up and Judge Jules, they were responsible for the signing of artists such as Todd Terry, David Morales, Josh Wink, Byron Stingly, Donna Summer, York, Yomanda, Da Hool and many more. Manifesto went on to have over 40 top 40 hits in the UK. Luke was also Executive Producer of Café del Mar on volumes 4 –8 including a ‘best Of’ which, when signed to Manifesto, went on to sell over 6 million copies. During that time he also acquired exclusive tracks from U2, Dido and Groove Armada.Having moved back to the UK he now runs his own radio plugging company with Power promotions called Power Plugging. They specialise in servicing the very best dance music to both Regional and National Radio. Luke represents some of the top labels in the country currently working with Hed Kandi, Positiva, Free2Air, Loaded, Columbia, and hit! records
