Gettin' jiggy wit' it

About Me

br /i own several basses and i like to sing here is my media kit bio because i'm lazy subgenius "Remember that kid in grade school who sat in back of class drawing super heroes in his notebook and was always doing things like eating paste? Well, he grew up and now he owns a bass and sings. tommy is that kid and frankly his habits are pretty much the same. Also an accomplished visual artist, this Florida native grew up in what he refers to as a "cultural Quisinart" his parents were former professional ballroom dancers who were constantly listening to either argentine tango music or their large collection of vintage Motown albums; meanwhile his grandparents were huge fans of opera and show tunes, as if this wasn't enough he grew up in a predominantly Caribbian and Vietnamese neighborhood soaking in those cultures and since it was the 1980s at the time he fell in love with heavy metal and started playing bass after being inspired by Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. His musical education was less than disciplined since (in his own words) "Being a bass player is like being the only girl in town, even if you're not so hot people are still interested..." so he learned, in time honored punk rock tradition, by jumping in blindly and hoping for the best. Luckily, through the years he attained some vague idea what he was doing, and had the opportunity to play gigs in virtually every genre. After hours of deliberation he decided that his three favorite bands are Jane's Addiction, Iron Maiden and John Frusciante's solo work. He had been close friend of guitarist Gregg "the scientist" Leblanc, for an excess of 25 years, oddly enough, they had never played music together until september of 2005. When not playing bass or obsessively tinkering with his basses (usually crudely with improper tools), Dom is an avid reader, a comedic actor (for a full list of my comedic scenes-make something up), an intermittent illustrator, and generally the guy in the room having the most fun. He is also known to buy pumpkin pies out of the trunks of cars when the opportunity arises." i'm also a very social person with a passion for good friends (do you see the irony here?), good theater and good food. performing is my favorite thing in the world (not practicing or learning the instrument, just performing), everything else in my mind just facilitates the show in one way or another.

My Interests

I thrive on drama--not acting--just drama. life is boring--so drama is always fun. i say I hate drama, but that's just me being dramatic. i love playing bass, singing, doing comedy, building musical instruments (well it looks fun, I've never actually done this), reading, acting (?????) and getting into odd situations.

I'd like to meet:

i would absolutely love to meet john frusicante, his solo work got me to start singing which has opened up new worlds to me musicacally, and i'd love to run into mike watt againwhile he's already someone i've met his playing is fantastic and i'd love another opportunity to pick his mind.. flea from the red hot chili peppers is another musician who's work means more to me each year. steve harris of iron maiden is the guy who's playing inspired me to play bass so i'd love to thank him. perry farrel of jane's addiction is another artist who i'd love to thank for inspiration. i also would love to meet frank miller the raving comic book fan that i am, and last but certainly not least i'd love to have the opportunity to make a fool of myself in front of natalie portman...as she is quite dreamy
