Blackpages

"A major songwriting talent!"

About Me

"I've been singing the praises of Andy Morse for what seems like so long now it amazes me that some people in this town are still unaware of his talent. Lately he's been going out as a duo with Jon Berry, decribing themselves (somewhat tongue in cheek) as 'two-fifths of a band called blackpages' which is partly an admission of rythm section problems in that band, but also, to my mind, an acknowledgement that the harder, rockier edge of the original Blackpages line-up live tended to obscure the melodic subtleties of Andy's songs. In the acoustic set that problem disappears and it's good to hear some of the newer, in some cases as yet untitled, songs beginning to take shape and asume a character of their own. The highlight of the set, however, os still 'faker' and this highly personal song, dripping with melody and highly-charged emotion, is evidence enough on its ow of why some would venture the opinion that Andy Morse is the best songwriter in South Wales." ***** Nigel Wassell, South Wales Giglist 2006
"Blackpages set themselves apart from other artists from South Wales by managing to remain lyrically fluent, yet retaining a maturity that sets themselves apart from the more indie-punk/metal style that seems to be infiltrating the younger artists from the area." Amy Wilkinson, Waterfront Magazine 2007
"Great, Emotive Songs" Adam Walton, BBC Radio 2007
"Songs that ooze passion, emotion and soul" South Wales Evening Post
