Kind of outdoorsy but still a townie (This means I like to camp but would always rather be at home in my own bed)...love water and floating upon it, keeping informed of current BS (both national and international, been very busy lately), a fiesty dog, 3.5 cats, bragging about local barbeque sauce, Amanda Mulkey, well fitting underwear (so very elusive), public radio and public television, birds in hand, burning bushes.
A boardgame w/ Larry David, Fish and chips w/Tony Blair, Movie night with Terry Gilliam, Creek cleanup with Al Gore (Tipper can stay home PAL), Thrift store shopping with John Waters, Waffles and fried chicken with Bill Clinton, A diet cola with Peter Jackson, Cultural learnings with Sacha Baron Cohen, A job with Artur Davis, A peanut butter sandwich with Jimmy Carter, A smoke break with Barak Obama, The back nine with Bill Murray, A short story from Johnathan Winters (see Winters Tales), A night out with Penn Gillette and Teller, War heroes, anti war heroes, Fat men, diet guru's, et al
Impossible to do without listing off 100 cheesy acts...easier to say what I don't like.....new country sucks, new R&B and thug rap are boring, new reggae is stale and apolitical, never really been a hair band kind of guy...jam bands get old and I want to go home and sleep. All that said, I do like lots music from all styles...just not YOUR band.
One day I will attempt to finish this one....here's a taste...King Kong (first one), anything by Akira Kurosawa, Bill Murray or the Cohen brothers. Recently saw Rockers and The harder they come, loved em...Royal Tennenbaums, Running with scissors.....blegh...maybe later
I am a HBO series junkie... (Esp. Big Love, 6ft under and Curb...Carnival was great but far too short, I like John from Cincinnatti, Extra's, Flight of the Conchords, Rome) The Riches (Fx), APT for the record, Nova, Frontline, American Experience, WKRP, This old house, The office (BBC or NBC), Britcoms, the Hitler channel, Jeopardy (but I really dislike the bastard host Trebek), SEC mens or womens sports, the McLaughlin group, Nova, Alton Brown's Good Eats, Southpark, Reno 911, Bill Maher, John Stewart and Steven Colbert.
I can't read but I've heard the following books are still available...1984, Dune, LOTR, Les Choses (Perec), Tell my horse (Zora Neal Hurston), TKAM, Far. 451, Confederacy of Dunces, Another Roadside Atraction, Blood Meridian, old newspapers, old magazines and old maps. I should be finished with my next read in 2011 so check back real soon.
Franklin Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Kennedy, Marcus Garvey, Robert Nesta Marley, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Mik. Gorbachev, my father, Winston Churchill, Margaret Sanger, Charles DeGaul, Nelson Mandela, Jesus of Nazareth, my grandparents (both sides), uncle Tom Sellers, Bob Woodward, William Weatherford, Ben Franklin, the environmentalist wacko's who are trying to save us from ourselves. And remember kids, no writer's work measures up except, on occasion, in hindsight -- when it becomes the very standard that your new work isn't measuring up to. So keep writing and screw what they think!
