About Me

"The beginning of wisdom is found in doubting; by doubting we come to the question, and by seeking we may come upon the truth." - Pierre Abelard
Before you start, yes, I know I look like Kevin Smith, thank you. Now start comparing me to someone better looking! Okay? Not that I mind it, I'm just getting used to it... :P
I had lap-band surgery at the end of last May (2005), and I've lost over 160lbs. and more than a foot off of my waist! I still have a long way to go, but I'm getting there. So, if you like guys on the plus side, act now! If you want a slimmer version, I take reservations.
I read a lot, and most of my friends come by my place all the time. Some of them are on Myspace too, Duncan, The Rook, Saint Ashlar, Kris, Ike, Ben, Vanessa, Sharkey, Shaun, Sean, Mark, Felix and others I'm probably forgetting as I'm typing and growing senile. I would name some of the others but they change their names often! Scott, Aaron, Jacolby, you know who you are... Especially since I just called you out!
I'm three degrees from Kevin Bacon. I do some acting in the local independent movies when they let me.
Most people smile around me, I suppose that can be interpreted to mean I'm entertaining to be around.
I know a guy who kicked Chuck Norris's ass.
I started a blog too. Screw you hippy! Its an editorial! Or as Rook calls it "A journal". Duncan calls it "Who are you! Quit asking me questions and get off a my lawn!" A long name to be sure, but it does get across his point that names are simply labels. Redundant, and so often we forget to put them on there, so that we end up with a huge pile of video cassettes and unrecognized burned cds/dvds.
I think I need to swear off on blondes and stick to redheads and brunettes. I think this is a good idea, I have had a kind of bad track record with blondes lately. My worst addiction!
I'm pro-gun, anti-militia, pro-choice, anti-you, pro-me, anti-dumbasses, pro-smartasses, pro-smoking, anti-oxidant, propane, antebellum...
Libertas quae sera tamen. This has been my motto of late. Learn Latin!
Movies are good, books are better and listening is the best.
I hunt myth so that I may become legend...
I hate when people forward the same bulletins about idiotic things! Its all hoaxes and scams. Get a mind of your own. Surveys don't count.
Re-post this or your dog will be eaten by a ghost. Or something.

My Interests

Books, movies, music, bosoms, movies, philosophy, pirates, cryptozology, The British Isles, paranormal investigations, books again, the evolution of language and society, religion, weapons, tactics, dragons, myths, legends and random trivia.

I'd like to meet:

I am hoping to find the people that are going to make my life more than what it is now.

The folks that made it what it was then.

Anyone who thinks they already know me.

Redheads! Amazons too!

What I want, nay, what I need is a woman to help make me into a great man. I'm a good man now, and the right woman will make me "great". She'll push me to accomplish things, finish things, conquer the world in my way. Without that, I'm merely existing.

Um... How am I really supposed to know the answer to this? You tell me if you think I am looking for you and I'll do the same.

Apparently Myspace is supposed to be the ultimate end-all be-all of finding long lost friends, cool new folks and some people who annoy you. I hope the long lost people and cool people come around before the others. I don't really care for the others.

And freaky furries. You know who you are.

If you think I would, could or should talk to you, then just say so. I'm not that scary...

And from now on, send me a message with the friends request unless I already know you.

Be cool!

NOTE: I might delete people that post way too many bulletins. **

And most of it on DVD.

Books:

The Oxford English Dictionary, Tolkien's other great work.
Anything written by Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Tim Powers, Dan Abnett, Steven Niles, Robert Kirkman, Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, James Robinson, George R. R. Martin, Geoff Johns, Stephen Laws, Richard Stark, John Sandford, Michael Moorcock, Edgar Allen Poe, Patrick O' Brian, Henry Beard, Monte Cook, Bernard Cornwell or Warren Ellis. Even though I made him angry. :P
Dan Simmons should probably be under heroes as well as books.
Same thing goes for Bruce Campbell.
A nice young lady once got me to read "Fight Club" by Chuck Palahniuk and I've read most of his since then.
Mark Twain was the measure of my childhood.
Edgar Allan Poe for the teens.
I read a lot of Loren Coleman too, stuff on the mysteries that may or may not exist around us.
And these funny survival guide things like "The Zombie Survival Guide" and "How to Survive a Robot Uprising", weird, funny and highly entertaining. Add "World War Z" to that as well.
And um... I sit and read Wikipedia all day if nothing stops me. I think I have a problem with that.

Heroes:

My heroes have always been cowboys, and they still are it seems.

And dead Greeks.

And some live teachers.

Sir Winston Churchill.
