Biography

Gravestorm was formed in Omaha, Nebraska on the month of September, 2002. Verdilak, Necrotis, Aragos banned together and decided to start a black metal project. The name of this project was to be Desecrator. This pre-Gravestorm line-up did not start writing any solid material until they had found a suitable drummer. After many tryouts and rehearsals it was decided that long time friend to the band, Ashgaroth, would be the most appropriate and dedicated candidate for the position. In late 2002 some material started to come to the surface. Due to pressures of other bands named 'Desecrator', it was later decided that the band name should be officially be changed to Gravestorm. After much rehearsal the three song demo 'Eternal Redemption' was recorded and soon thereafter released in a small quantity of 25. Gravestorm's first official show was that of October 31st, 2003. In support 2 other bands were to play as well. Due to rumors and death threats to the bands and others, mostly procured through online forums, the bands dropped off the show at the last moment. Gravestorm went on to play the show alone despite such disappointments. That show had proven to the local music community that Gravestorm was here to stay despite any such threats empty or otherwise.
Spring of 2004 marked the recording of Gravestorm's second musical endeavor 'Cold Grim World'. Although not officially pressed it has been released since then through means of filesharing & has had a circulation through underground mp3 trading. In the Summer of 2004 Gravestorm had the opportunity to perform at Omaha Metalfest II along side such acts as: Anal Blast, Incinerate, Hollowed & Diabolic Possession among others. This show proved to establish the name Gravestorm in local music.
Two thousand and five proved to be a turbulent year for Gravestorm. Aragos left the band on guitar duties to persue his own solo project Verminus. Shortly thereafter, Legna joined on for bass duties & Grabesstille for 2nd guitar duties. After much attempt at rehearsals and organization Legna left the project. This led to a period of inactivity for many months. Eventually in early 2006 the band got back on it's feet and started playing local shows again & writing new material. Late 2006, Gravestorm discontinued it's search for a new bassist. Grabesstille picked up the duties of bass guitar playing which then made Gravestorm a complete 4-piece.
In April of 2007 Gravestorm ventured to Texas to participate in San Antonio's annual Demonic Gathering Fest. The Fest included such acts as: Catholicon, Demontuary, Ancient Malus, Misskarriage, Blessed Agony & many other sinister bands. As of now, Gravestorm is currently in the studio recording old as well as new material for upcoming releases. The band has had several proposals to produce splits with other black metal bands within the scene, and also have plans to work on producing an album once all the recording preparations are completed.
