I'm wearing shorts. What's up with you and being nasty? (...yeah, me too :D )

About Me

.. Okay, quick basics: David J. Cook, 34, married, cute house, cute wife that thinks I rock, adorable pets, cute car, awesome family (both sides)
Not a fan of society in its present form or direction, but really loving my immediate world and somewhere in all of that I maintain a fairly healthy resolve... or balance... it's something, anyhow, and I'm good with it.
I mean I'm still an orthodox cynic... to such an extent that when moderate cynics unroll their prayer rugs and face mecca to pray, they're pretty much all pointing towards my house.
Yeah, the dark sense of humor goes without saying. Well, I guess I just said it so maybe now it doesn't have to... but, it's definitely there.
Anyhow, welcome to my...space... (yay, got to use the title in the movie, awesome) Look around, make yourself at home (unless you're looking me up after ten years to tell me how over me you are and how much I suck... (which is exactly what you do when you're over someone... stupid :) and in that case, please save yourself the strain and wasted composition and skip ahead to the part where you f'ck off and I go back to playing with my dogs and listening to devil music... thanks) Okay... Hi, welcome, blah-blah, sign my guestbook whatever.

My Interests

Spending time with my much better half.

Chess, Firearms, books about chess and firearms, Motorcycles (especially mine), Electronics, Competitive shooting (USPSA rocks!!!), Rubik's cubes, building anything (LEGOs, electronics, furniture, ammunition... really, people... it's an illness...)

Different player

Lets try this again (my last player sucked... hard)

I'd like to meet:

You... my new chess buddy...

Oh... and Rachel Weisz

Music:

Metal... lots of it, and a bunch of other weird stuff.

Movies:

Action... Clearly.

Television:

Books:

I love books. I've got a couple of book shelves that are filled to the top and someday... (like when I'm too old/hurt to move) I would like very much to get to read some of them.

I've got a lot of chess books and military history books. Aside from those most of my books are sciences, philosophies, and reference books.

I'm not big on fiction... there's a few fiction writers that I really enjoy (Chuck Palahniuk, for one), but really my heart is more in the reference section... odd, I know and maybe sort of dry on the surface, but despite the oversized arm span and heavy-labor-reinforced spinal column, I'm still an information junkie. Maybe it's the ticking clock... and I'm a monkey racing to assemble a puzzle that it knows it will never live long enough to finish... regardless, let's move on...

Heroes:

You are Batman
Batman 70%
Hulk 70%
Superman 65%
Spider-Man 65%
Iron Man 65%
The Flash 60%
Supergirl 45%
Robin 45%
Green Lantern 45%
Catwoman 40%
Wonder Woman 35% You are dark, love gadgets
and have vowed to help the innocent
not suffer the pain you have endured.
Your results:
You are Malcolm Reynolds (Captain)
Malcolm Reynolds (Captain) 90%

Jayne Cobb (Mercenary) 50%
Alliance 50%
Inara Serra (Companion) 40%
Derrial Book (Shepherd) 40%

You sometimes make mistakes in judgment
but you are generally good and
would protect your crew from harm.

Staying Alive... and other movies that make me wish I were dead

So, insomnia demanded that I stay up and watch cable tonight. They're showing 'Staying Alive' and since I had never seen it, I figured I'd brush up on some pop culture...Why do I do that? Did Xan...

IPSC... I 'm relearning how to shoot

It's odd... been handling firearms since age 11. so I always felt like I was rather competent behind the controls of most of them (minus full auto stuff... never operated any of those) But, it's like ...
