I keep my wicked life for 2 reasons

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Amedeo Modigliani. Haruki Murakami. Curious George. And poor poor Jack McCoy.

Music:

Sleater-Kinney (sigh). Eels. Decemberists. Morphine. Belle and Sebastian. Slayer. Shins. Lots of stuff really. This list grows too often, so I just put up a few of my faves.

Movies:

I love movies. From "Annie Hall" to "Zombie." I hate to pick a favorite since the list grows everytime I see a preview, read a book on a filmmaker, or, I dunno, breathe. Right now I'm all about "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Double Life of Veronique."

Television:

Heroes. On DVD, I love Freaks and Geeks and Invader Zim Don't watch too much television, but Family Guy is pretty funny although it's getting to the "I've seen this one 7 times already" point of rerun hell.

Books:

Anything I've ever read by Haruki Murakami. I also love 9 Stories and everything else I've read by Salinger (well, that he's allowed to see print since I started reading in elementary school). Lolita, of course. Snow Crash was a lot of fun which led me to recently read some Philp K. Dick. And yes, Blade Runner may be a visually stunning movie but is quite lifeless compared to the book. Please don't make the graphic novels Blankets and Carnet de Voyage by Craig Thompson into movies.

Heroes:

My dad, Batman, Jon Stewart, my best friends Kim, Mike, Diana, Kevin, Aaron, Matt, and . . .did I happen to mention Batman?

My Blog

Mama's Family & Mike Seever

Being part of a book club sure is exciting. It helps expose me to works I normally wouldn't read, such as "The Kite Runner" or "Shalimar the Clown." Sometimes, I can get pretty easily fascinated by ...

Open letter to the lady that threw up on my jacket at Jake Johannsen show last night at Helium

"Well, why did you do it? Are you some kind of jerk or something?" It was my favorite jacket. And why did you leave? Did you think I would have put my jacket on and maybe, MAYBE, put my arm down o...

Just a fictive snapshot

The still wet asphalt, daubed black in spots from the rain, still shimmered in the late afternoon sun. Her long auburn hair still fluttering in the wind reached the door before she did. She grabbed ti...

From my other blog :

A recently discovered preface to the Communist Manifesto (as there are currently five) helped shed some light on the relationship between Karl Marx and Frederich Engels. I found it interesting and dec...

Yay (sigh) yay

I felt very much like having an Ellinikos Kafes (although I realize that it's nothing more than a 1974 Hellenic/patriotic renaming of "Turkish Coffee"). For some reason, the left over java juice at t...

The Métro, sigh

I know it sounds pretty trite and clichéd but, yessireee, I left my heart on Le Métro. At this point in my life I truly miss Paris. Maybe it's because I sometimes feel like an outsider even in situa...

Being and Nothingess

Okay, so I saw I Heart Huckabees last night and have a renewed interest in philosophy. My very very very much unread copy of "Being and Nothingess" was happy that I picked it up to give it a second s...

Old(er) people and movies

So, last night, I went to see "Open Water," which is silly of me because I just bought 3 DVD's the night before and haven't had time to sit down and watch them as of yet. But that's another story. A...

Monotony

This morning I read a little bit more of William Burroughs' "Junky." Usually I go to the art museum on Sundays and sketch from about 3-5 works of art but my inner clock is messed up from getting home...
