No Second Troy is on the verge of jumping from the packed clubs of the indie-rock scene to the larger national stage. The band's first full-length LP, "Narcotic" has continued to garner critical acclaim nationwide. Just two weeks after its release, the band was the featured artist of the week on XM Radio's R/A/D/A/R Report and was added into regular rotation on XMU Radio. Shortly after, the album broke the CMJ Top 200 Music Charts and was featured on the front page of SPIN Magazine's website along with the release of their first video for the song, 'Into Your Sun.' TMZ.com recently tapped the band as one of three Washington-area bands with the talent to "break out" of the DC scene, and The Staten Island Advance proclaims "...if you snatched up The Fray's 'How To Save a Life' and played it more often than pop radio did last year, this band could be your next favorite incessant pop group..."
Featuring the earnest vocals of Jeff Wharen, backed by the band's subtle layering of electric guitars, synthesizers, piano, organ, bass, and drums, No Second Troy has found a way to blend the pop hooks of bands like The Fray, Snow Patrol, and Coldplay, with the unique indie-rock arrangements of acts like Death Cab for Cutie, Arcade Fire, and Stars. In the spring of 2006, the band's EP caught the attention of noted producer Ted Comerford (Zox, Virginia Coalition, Army of Me) and also landed them a slot at the North By Northeast (NXNE) festival in June of 2006. After showcasing at NXNE, the band worked over the summer and fall with Comerford and mixers Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, David Gray), Mike Plotnikoff (My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects, the Cranberries), and Paul David Hager (Goo Good Dolls) to finish "Narcotic" for its May 2007 release. In support of the CD release, NST has been playing dates along the East Coast, including to packed houses at the Ram's Head in Annapolis, the Knitting Factory Main Stage in New York, the Viper Room in Los Angeles and to sold out crowds in their hometown at The Black Cat and the 9:30 Club.
