Charli Vox (aka Charlene Gilliam), who hails from Jersey City, NJ, began her career in singing at 3 years of age. By the time she was 17 years of age, she had already performed in a popular Off Broadway Play, Won the prestigious Apollo Theatre Amateur Night twice , Won The Hal Jackson's Talented Teens, Won The Doug Banks National Talent Competition, and received many other awards and accolades for her stellar performances throughout the Tri-State Area. It was also around this time Charli decided to take a hand at songwriting. Within her first year of writing, she scored her first major song placement. The song "Wasted My Tyme" was recorded by Michell'e for album "Hung Jury" on Death Row/First Priority/Capitol Records. It was then the multi-talented singer/songwriter/vocal producer decided to not only pursue her artist career but her songwriting production career as well. Juggling the two would be hard for most, but Charli took to take the challenge of balancing both. She has mostly appeared as a featured artist on the song "Full Grown" for the film "Soul Plane"(MGM) and has recorded backing vocals for the likes of Deborah Cox, Lumidee, and performed alongside the likes of Destiny's Child, and Mary J. Blige. Not to be stopped, Charli Vox, being a part of the hot new production team "The Conglomerate", has also written and co-produced for various artists such as Deborah Cox(Centaur Records/Virgin), Fanatic(EMI France), Crystal Kay(Sony Japan), Tenjochiki(Avex Japan), Rihanna(SRP/Def Jam) and Shawna(DTP/Def Jam). The song "Final Goodbye", a song pen by Charli, is featured on Rihanna's sophmore release "A Girl Like Me" in stores now! And Most recently Kumi Koda's "Cherry Girl".
This emerging talent has not limited her abilities to being behind the boards. Charli has only just begun her own artist career ..her upcoming artists projects include a tribute album featuring Paul McCartney recordings with Slick Papa Jones, followed shortly by her long awaited debut album "Stop Being In Love" .Charli is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She also mentors teen aged girls as a Lifetime memeber of the Girl Scout of the USA. With her many major upcoming projects to be released within the year ....Charli Vox is sure to secure herself internationally as an industry heavyweight for many years to come.
