The Dark Side of Human Nature with a Comedic Twist

About Me

Calvin Hussey – Writer/Promoter/Journalist/Academic.
Est. - 1985
Just in case you pay attention to these things;
I live to write; “The pen is mightier than the sword” Well that may not be entirely true, but put a biro in my hand and I’ll make a far larger mark on this world then I would with any blade.

I’m currently studying Film Studies and Creative Writing at Portsmouth University. I'm planning to continue my education further, studying a post 16 education or degree so I can teach English at college level. I then intend to study a Masters degree or Doctorate so I can teach Creative writing at university level...Only as a steady income, I have far bigger, more exciting things in the works around that. Like further publishing, and watching Excess Dog invade your brain, and eat your face :)
I don’t know what 2008 holds in store for me, but good or bad I can’t wait.
If you really want to know anything about me, don’t hesitate to ask; but for now, here’s a few little observations about myself;
- I am a short ass (5ft 4).
- I talk WAY too much.
- I'm a lover not a fighter.
- I think too much.
- I am lazy.
- I'm usually a human lie detector so don’t even bother.
- I swear WAY too much.
- I eat WAY too much.
- I’m incredibly skinny.
- I dont sleep enough.
- My trust is earned, and it takes me along time before I trust anyone fully.
ATTENTION: EXCESS DOG!
The most important thing in my life? Excess Dog, a web-based all encompassing (Film, music, literature, art, ect.) multi-media production company/label, that I am co-creating with my business partner and good friend (*see top 8* Excess Dan).
Currently under development; the main aim of our site is to provide an all-expansive guide to underground/alternative entertainment, while providing a free source of publicity to those talent undiscovered talents.
At this point in time the site design is coming along nicely under the masterful hands of Mr. Sunderland and I continue to write, promote, network and research new ways to entertain the masses. Watch out for my Excess Dog charity mix-tape, including a world of different talents and genres. ADD IT @ http://www.myspace.com/excessdogthemixtapevol1
Also get ready as Excess Dog gears up to bring new forms of entertainment and (again diversive of genre) live acts from established artists, starting in our hometown, and then spreading like bird flu.
A MySpace profile is available to explain the project in further detail, start a point of contact, and keep everybody posted on the projects development process.

Excess Dog, Y’all… Watch this space!
ADD US NOW , drop past and drop us a line! Hope you all enjoy what you see! Cheers x
Ok, and now back to me…
Well just recently I was a part of Somerstown's music video "Thievin'Rascals" which was featured on Channel U for over 6 weeks.
Watch it NOW!!
My basic philosophies?
No one should have to change a part of what they are, to earn another’s friendship. Friendship should be about acceptance. 100% That means honesty, even if sometimes it can appear brutal. Your friends are the people you can exchange the harshest words with, and still reach an agreement/settlement with an hour later. If you’re open and honest all the time with your friends, and they are with you, then there's no need for distrust. My friends have my back, and I have theirs. Friendship is earned. If you want mine, you sure as fuck better not betray it.
You may hear me complain about religion from time to time. Get this straight. I don't hate religion, I just hate religious ideas that create suffering and repression. I have no religions, I only have my own set of beliefs. If more people make their own decisions as to their place on this earth, and stop creating pointless religious rivalry, then maybe racism and prejudice would decrease.
Please don't get offended by my words, any of them, they are only words, 99.9% of the time it's just horseplay. I’m a firm believer in its not what’s said that’s offensive, but the tone of how it is said. Therefore I may occasionally say something that could cause offensive; I have a dark sense of humor, but it’s just my humor. Trust me, if you over react about things it usually gets you nowhere.
I'm hoping to meet some interesting people on here...
And some FREAKS!
Can’t forget the freaks… After all, we all have a freakish side to our personalities. Anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial.
It's all about the freaks!
Peace,
Calvino x }

My Interests

I'm particularly interested in;
Writing (all forms of) Music - Promotion, Publication, Reviewing - everythings worth a listen.
Indy / Foreign cinema. Film production / editing.
Combining these things to make some freakin' money!
Looking after my people.
NINTENDO!!

I love to read, the right book can take you far farther away from reality than any other media. Brett Easton Ellis and Hunter S. Thompson are personal favorites of mine.

To be honest I'm interested in success. I believe if you work hard enough, and show individuality, then you can, and must succeed.

I'm always interested in expanding my knowlegde and understanding of other cultures. Oh, and possibly your mother. If she's lucky lol

I'd like to meet:

Mike Patton (fuck yes)!!!!
Hunter S. Tompson (my god yes)!! R.I.P Hunter...
Banksy! He's so elusive.
Jimmy Carr, he's as offensive as we'd all like to be but can't.
Tony Jaa, have you seen Ong Bak or Tom Young Gong? If yo have you know what I mean.
Brett Easton Ellis, his books rock my world
John Peel (Legend) R.I.P John.
Buck 65...I cant convince you why, U'd have to check him out and see what you think.
Noel Fielding aka Vince noir, Fuckin comic legend!
Everyone on the set of Peepshow!
Chris Morris, U should know why!
The whole of Gwar (now that would be interesting)

As for people on myspace, Open-minded, Free thinking, free speaking, people who think outside of genre boundaries. Why do we have to all wear one thing and listen to one type of music to fit in? Can't we all discover ourselves through culture expansions? Get out there today and discover a piece of music you’ve never heard before, a piece of clothing you've never considered, make a friend who is into things that are strange and new to you...Why the hell not? If you’re reading this and think you know what I’m getting at, then please drop me a line. I'd be interested in conversing.Cheers, Calv..
