Joshua Gilton has explained the reason that he writes songs, â€Well, I write because sometimes things just need to be said. Sometimes I need to write because something is in my heart, sometimes its because something is on my mind, and sometimes its cause there is something on my shoulders or my conscious.†What ever the reason is that he writes a song, the emotion in which he writes it comes out when he sings it. His lyrics seem to come from a painful awareness of the current human condition. His use of the timeless tradition of song to tell the listener a story that says something of worth is something seldom heard in popular music today. It’s hard to hear the lyrics in his songs and the passion in his voice and not feel affected.
J-Gilton started playing guitar in high school along with his friends. Though his friends soon gave it up, he found that the guitar was quickly becoming one of his greatest friends. He started of by playing Blues and Metal, learning how to channel his emotion out through the stings. He early influences were B.B. King, Deftones, and Slipknot. He was an angry, sad young man to say the lest. Then for his birthday his parents got him a Acoustic guitar, he soon started listening to the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Sinatra and Incubus. He’s been writing songs ever since. Now J-Gilton is on his way to touching the hearts of everyone that hears him. With lyrics that can take you deep into your own soul, and a voice that shows you into the depth of his.
