What about me? During the day, I'm a nerd. Yep, I'm a software analyst. Or as we say in the biz, 'Anal - ist'. At night, I shed my nerdiness and allow the cool, attractive, suave, man I am to come out. Ok, not really. At night, I'm still a nerd, but....a nerd that composes music. I've been writing music for about 20 years now and can write in just about any style of music (except for bluegrass and polka), but decided about 8 months ago to embark on a new journey.
You see, I'm a princess, and princess's need to be pampered. Every 3 months or so, I indulge myself and get a full-body massage. How is this related to the music you ask? Well, I'll tell you. I found that the music was distracting me from the purpose of the visits...lots of rubbing and relaxing. I kept thinking to myself, I can write music that would make this a lot more enjoyable for me.....so I did. I spent 8 months writing and writing and writing, until I had about an hour of what I hoped to be beautiful, calming music. But, I'll let you be the judge of that.
I have been most influenced by James Horner and David Foster. Horner you will recognize from the music of the movies Titanic, Braveheart, The Perfect Storm, Legends of the Fall, etc. And in my orchestra pieces, if you are familiar with the great Mr. Horner, you will definitely hear his influence. Piano wise, I almost learned how to play piano from David Foster's music. Most people now him as a legendary producer (Madonna, Toni Braxton, Andrea Bocelli, etc, etc), but he also writes some of the most excellent instrumental music. His most popular being St. Elmo's Fire. My piano style is very much influenced by his music. Although, he won't return my phone calls for some reason. ; )
This music is not for everyone and I'm not telling you that you have to love it....or am I? But, if you are looking for music to relax to, bath to, go to sleep to, wake up to, make out to (I don't want to hear the details) then you may, in fact, really love this music. If I may make a suggestion: The best way to try out the music is to listen to it with a great stereo, or great headphones, lying down with your eyes closed. By the way, I love hearing about what the songs make you think of, so feel free to msg or post me.
Anyway, enough about me. Enjoy the music, feel free to ask questions as I am not famous enough yet to blow you off and not respond. : )
Later, -m
