About Me

DIVEST stemmed from the same regional/upstate scene that gave the world bands likeCoheed and Cambria, AutoPilot Off, 3, Anadivine and Dripping Goss. DIVEST likewise was part of a movement towards pushing the musical envelope. They are presently not operating.
Originally formed by Kurt Brown, Dave Parker and Nate Kelley years ago, the band Bleed Theory eventually grew to become DIVEST through various incarnations/comings and goings of members. Every line up has had something to offer. Currently band members from DIVEST are active in Pontius Pilate Sales Pitch, Counterfeit Disaste, Time Of Orchids and The Fits Of Fury (all on myspace).
Some of the bands DIVEST ( in various eras) shared the stage with include Codeseven, Coheed & Cambria, Bloodlet, Nora, Anadivine, Unearth, Crisis, All Out War, BoySetsFire, Bad Brains, Red Tape and The Hope Conspiracy to name a few.
A two song DIVEST 7" feat "Open Door Revelation" and "Brand New Lie" is out now /order at fkmrecords.com while they last!
DIVEST completed a full length LP "Ghost Town Reckoning" at Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY (Coheed & Cambria, Straylight Run, Codeseven). The label unfortunately never got off the ground and the contract defaulted amicably if regretfully.
We worked on the record with Dr. Know of the Bad Brains/Black Jack Johnson, Mike Birnbaum and Chris Bittner of Applehead Studios/Ill Aire Productions and Danny Ilchuk (Produced Leeway's "Adult Crash" and is known from Shining Path/Weerd Science/Roguish Armament fame). In addition the band recorded an EP "5 Weeks/All Points Collide" at Darkworld Studio in Kingston.
After guitarist Dave Parker joined Coheed and Cambria as touring keyboardist the previous line up went on hiatus until briefly reforming with three original members Morgan Evans (vox), Kurt Brown (guitar) and Nate Kelley (back on bass like in the Bleed Theory days). Intended new members Jesse Cunningham and Fred Waring (ex CRISIS!) were bringing a whole new dimension to the table and were kicking ass, but the project didn't keep going, sadly. Morgan previously worked for years with Jesse in bands like Fuse (myspace.com/fuseband) and Melancholy and it was great to work with him again, if briefly. There was plans for a Collective ala Pigface style with rotating mambers from various eras but it fizzled due to a lack of participation and differences of viewpoint among various parties.
"Ghost Town Reckoning" is a great album and hopefully will come out somehow, someday but for the present the band has stopped over personal differences.
