Circles Ringtone - Kimara Lovelace

..

Music Video Codes Cats Hip Hop Honeys Ron Paul Blimp Kimara Lovelace is a name that transcends Dance Music. Her intense vocal stylings remain timeless, in the same vain as legendary vocalists like Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan, Stephanie Mills, Gladys Knight and Barbara Streisand. You would be hard pressed to find a more talented vocalist, songwriter or performer in any genre that can keep an audience so in awe with her every note, and so engaged with her commanding stage presence.Kimara’s musical journey began humbly enough, belting out her favorite hits in her Somerville New Jersey home as a young child. She accredits her diverse musical foundation to her loving parents who exposed her to a wide variety of music from R&B and Funk, to Country and Rock. This would lay the groundwork for not only honing her vocal range, but more importantly, it gave her much needed versatility that is so lacking from many present day vocal artists. At the tender age of 9, Kimara Lovelace had firmly established herself as a force to be reckoned with, having performed in some of the most prestigious venues nationally with the music industry’s biggest names. Audiences at Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theatre, and The Cotton Club were in awe of this youngster’s voice, confidence and stage presence. It was at one such performance at the Cotton Club for then heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, which earned Kimara accolades from well-respected artists like Teddy Pendergrass and Patti LaBelle. This would lead to a meeting with top executives representing the world renown-recording label Philly International Records. The label became apprehensive about signing Kimara due to her young age, but this only fueled her desire to follow her dreams with more determination than ever!Kimara continued to captivate audiences with her powerful voice landing her a position as Stephanie Mills understudy in the very popular Broadway musical The Wiz in 1979. The very young Ms. Lovelace continued demonstrating her versatility and vocal competence while performing live at Lincoln Center in New York as “Grace Davis” in the world respected Kurt Weill production “Street Scene” (a ground breaking opera that delved into immigrant life in New York’s post industrial revolution). Kimara committed her voice to a solo performance nightly that roused the hearts and souls of many opera connoisseurs. The show remained sold out and in1981, Kimara was asked back for an encore performance when the play toured nationally.Fast forward, Kimara was first introduced to the genre of dance music with the release of her first hit single “ Only You” in 1995, written and produced by Phillip Damien and remixed by super star DJ Danny Teneglia. Hisa Ishioka CEO of King Street Sounds/Nite Grooves signed Kimara to a three-track deal on the strength of the demo of “Only You”. This would establish Kimara as the new Dance Music diva. The single would go on to crack the top five on the Billboard Club Play Chart, and embellish Kimara with worldwide press coverage. “King Street has signed a new artist…and damn she has some pipes!” writes DJ Times 1995.Her follow-up, a remake of Atlantic Starr’s classic “Circles” dominated the Billboard Club Play charts in 1997 taking over the #1 spot over Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. The remix provided by Grammy winner Hex Hector would go a long way in establishing Kimara as one of Dance Music’s top vocal performers. In 1998 Kimara became a legend on the club scene with her classic “When Can Our Love Begin”. The track written by Roland Clarke of Urban Soul and remixed by the legendary Timmy Regisford climbed up the charts and more importantly hit a cord with inner city youth who deemed the song as the love anthem of their time. Her extraordinary explosive live performances only added to her reputation as an all around entertainer.Kimara Lovelace has gone on to release big hits for several labels worldwide including Sony, Ultra, Virgin, and Distance just to name a few. Her tracks have been heavily licensed globally, landing on such compilation albums from names like Danny Tenaglia, Joe Claussell, Danny Krivit, Cevin Fisher and David Morales. Her vocals have even invaded the video game market with her powerful voice gracing the main theme (“ One More Win”) on the Playstation Game Ridge Racer Type 4 soundtrack. Releases like “Luv Me Right” produced by Todd Gardner for Distance/Next Music in France continue to fuel the increased demand for Kimara’s vocal recordings and live appearances.Ms. Lovelace’s current release “Here I Am” on Soul Groove Records is one of her most intimate and moving compositions to date. The track about self-love, acceptance, and conquering inner childhood fears is vintage Kimara Lovelace. Upcoming collaborations with artists like Byron Stingly, Fanatix (Aaron Ross & Neil Pierce), and Sueno Soul will continue to keep Kimara’s name at the very top of the list of in-demand female Dance Music entertainers. Her vocal recordings continue to move us, while her live performances continue to thrill us. Reinvention is the art of a soaring diva, and Kimara Lovelace maintains her place among the best of them.

Heroes:

My heroes are the odd balls. Those who do not fit in nor get acknowledged by MAINSTREAM america. I admire people who DEFY convention. Those who QUESTION the ANSWERS. Musically, I admire those who live and breathe music with CONVICTION in their hearts. I don't care if they write about pimps, hoes and tricks or true love... as long as it's real and is their living experience. I don't like WANNA BE anythings... There is nothing more unattractive than a person who hates on others trying to hide their own insecurities AND I LOVE to MIND FUCK those people. So....come and join me in my quest. That's what makes the world go round. DIVERSITY amidst ADVERSITY. How you intepret and process the adversity is what builds character. Stay strong, keep it moving so that you're NEVER stagnant.
