About Me

El Sindicato Café aka Brown Sindicato is a Raza arts organization founded at CSU, Sacramento in 2003. El Sindicato's main mission is to promote conciencia utilizing Raza arts: fine art, literature, theater, photography, music and dance. Through the arts, El Sindicato fights for equality and justice for marginalized communities.Over the past three years, El Sindicato has created artwork against the Minutemen Project, HR 4437, Israel, Bush, Arnold and the unjust wars in the Middle East. Sindicato artistas have embraced movements around the globe such as the Zapatista and Palestinian Movements and have created art for those causes.El Sindicato believes in the education and empowerment of youth of color, and often facilitate workshops at local high schools and youth conferences. Members of the Sindicato are teachers at Grupo Raza School's Academia del Barrio, a non traditional Raza Saturday school in Sacras. These members teach Xicano art and Spanish to Raza youth.El Sindicato is a proactive organization that organizes with local organizations such as the Zapatista Coalition, The Campaign Against Unjust Immigration Laws (CAUIL), Semilla, the Royal Chicano Air Force, SOL Collective and more.
