The Rise of the Idiots

About Me

James Cooper is an accomplished singer songwriter, guitarist and producer. He was raised on the Isle of Wight and has a fine musical background. He is no stranger to gig goers as an energetic and confident performer with talent and ability overflowing. Considering only being in his twenties James has already amassed many years experience in both recording and touring. Both as a solo artist and in bands, such as, Embassy Row, Awkward Silence and more recently The Operators, appearing up and down the country, at well known venues such as, Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms, London Barfly, Brighton Pressure Point, Southend Chinneries and Southampton Joiners as well as taking to the second stage at the Isle of Wight Festival..
James has recently taken the opportunity to pursue a new project, in which James is taking on the roles of not only sole performer, but also songwriter and producer. The initial foundations for this project were laid with a demo album recorded in early 2006 whilst James was completing his degree in Music Production and Technology at Brighton University. The album entitled “The Escape Route” comprised of ten original songs that James himself described as a "Lo-fi Folk / Pop Disaster". Although this fine body of work was distributed among friends, family and anyone who happened to take an interest, there was no clear intention to promote or tour it, due to various other musical commitments. However a few select live dates were played during 2006, including shows with "Two Gallants", "Champ of The Day", "Day of the Fight and "Goodbye Stereo"..
James is currently in the studio working on a new project that will really demonstrate his growing strength as a pop writer and performer as well as his technological and recording skills with the project following a more focused production style. Plans are underway for putting a band together to bring this new material to fans later this year..
